Hi, does anybody know if my insurance company can find out how many penalty points I have?
    cheers ;)

Probably not. If you're going down that route just get third party insurance as that's the most cover you'll have if you falsify your proposal form regardless of what you pay for. Cheaper still just don't buy insurance. :pac:

EDIT: I do not advise people not having the relevant test/tax/cover on their cars. We all pay for those idiots in our premiums. The tone of my post was not clear!

As far as I know they can't find out. But you're meant to tell them when you get any or it can invalidate your cover, like David said.

I got points a few years and my cover was up for renewal. When I got the price off them I told them I was going to compare with other companies. I got a lower price, came back to my company and asked them if they'd match it. They said they would, and then I said, 'and that's the price you're quoting, it's not affected by the fact that I've earned penalty points'. They said it wasn't, and I went with them again.

I was happy enough with that, I did tell them I got points, but to be honest I told them in the middle of the sales person trying to get me to re-sign. I doubt they even noted that I'd got points on their system. The points are gone now anyhow...

And yes they can find out how many points you have but the most likely won't bother until you file a claim.

Ah sure feck Tax and the NCT altogether as well, why would ya be paying for them anyway...

OP, I don't wanna go down the route of why you're asking this question, but suffice to say that the Insurance will find out when the time comes and you can expect your financial situation to be considerably worse for a number of years after once they do... Deservedly to.

Why am I asking?..becouse I have to renew the policy and i've catch up few points.. but if they cant find out it..I wouldnt tell them ofcourse.. fekn insurance is too expensive already..hungry scmbags.. thats why I am asking..to feck them all!!

 You've clocked up points but reckon you're not a higher risk on the road, hmmm, love your logic, think our banks and government are cut from the same cloth.

Most insurers dont care unless you go over 6 points

If you don't let them know about the penalty points, then you could be potentially scr*wed in the event of a claim - and all you'll have to blame will be your own miserliness.

Generally though 0-4 points will/should not affect your insurance. Insurance has risen this year all across the board due to the economic conditions.

Just curious, do you only need to inform them when you are renewing your policy or as soon as you get them ?

AFAIK (and i'm open to correction) only when you're renewing

Insurance law means you are obliged to disclose all relevant information to them. It's not up to them to find out.

Yeah, that was in another thread recently and that seemed to be the story.
