Based on the success of the Pearl Izumni T Shirt Review (here) Ger has kindly agreed to put his head in the Lions den once more. Or more accurately his foot, since he's offering up trainers for us to look at.

It's basically the same deal as before - he'll send out a pair of trainers to someone. They have to commit to wearing the shoes both in training and at a designated race. In return for the trainers they will commit to coming on here and giving at least three reviews. One on first impressions, one after a few weeks wear and one after a race. You'll also be expected to answer any questions that posters throw at you.

It is really important that the reviews are honest and impartial. If you think the shoes are great then by all means say so. If you think they are good but have flaws say so. If you think they suck, say so. But have a look at the reviews in the other thread for an idea of the kind of review style we're looking for. Not just "yea, deadly shoes!" but well thought out explanations with reasons behind liking or disliking.

Because we need the reviews to be obviously impartial (and because they are a sort of "perk") I'm going to restrict reviewers to people who have been members for a while (at least 6 months) and have a few posts on this forum, people who would be known to readers.

Like last time I am looking for three reviewers.

Reviewer One: Will commit to racing the Rathfarnam 5k and will be reviewing Racing Flats. Because it's flats we are really looking for someone at the faster end of the scale (20 mins or below), either who currently wears flats or (possibly better) would be wearing them in a race for teh first time.

Reviewer Two: Someone running the Dublin marathon. We'd hope you'd run teh marathon in these so you'll be doing at least one LSR and the race in the shoes. No preference on speed but mid pack (3:30 down) would probably suit well.

Reviewer Three: Someone else! Someone who trains 3 - 7 days a week but ideally not just hopping on a treadmill or whatever. Lets challenge Ger this time!

If you're interested post a message down below and we'll get the ball rolling!

    Isn't Rathfarnham a 5k?

I've no more road races for the rest of the year so can't jump into category one or two. I'll throw my name in the hat for option 3 - a training shoe.

I've never worn flats before, so assuming that it is only the 5k your actually talking about, I guess I might be able to count myself in option 1, which kind of scares me a bit.

You can put me down for #2, I'm going for 3:10 but will be doing so in a pair of non-flats (Supernova Glides), so would be happy to try these out ;)

    Hmm, 40 mins for a 5k? :D:D

I guess the edit button is about to be used again shortly.

I'd be up for it. Either 2 or 3 (though the 5k is tempting as well)

I'm not doing DM 09 :( i hav already completed two other marathons this year so I'm just tipping away with runs 5 days a week to stay in shape and hoping to get a head start for connemarathon 10.

SO that just leaves me for option 3 please, As i dont' live in the Dub area the 5k you mention is not feasible.

Would be up for #3, definitely too slow for #1 and I'm too worried about injury if I change shoes before Dublin for #2 (and I'm also too slow for this!).

I'd be up for #3, will probably be running 3-4 times a week over the winter inc. winter league and a track session

I'd do number 3. As a 'heavier' runner and a big fan of asics kayano's I'd certainly put a pearl izumi shoe through the ringer.

    I could do 2 or 3. I'm greedy.

I'll put my name down for No 3. I'll be training 4 - 5 times a week and am aiming for a 10km road race in about 6 weeks as well as a half marathon in the middle of December...

I'm normally an asics user (kayano's and flats) and more recently switched to Mizuno wave riders... would love to try something new....
