I have a smasung 32" full hd tv.
It has a cam slot on the back
If I fit one of these.
Turbosat MPEG4 to MPEG2 Viaccess Cam

Allows your current MPEG2 digital receiver or IDTV to accept Irish DTT MPEG-4 broadcasts. The CAM* goes in the Common Interface slot in your TV or receiver. Note you do not need a subscription card with the CAM to receive the public service channels (RTE/TV3/TG4). Your TV or digital receiver needs to be DVB-T compliant (digital terrestrial).

Most LCD and Plasma TVs sold in Ireland over the last few years will have a DVB-T digital terrestrial TV tuner built in. Unfortunately these TVs mostly only decode MPEG2 broadcasts as they have been built to the UK Freeview specification. This CAM will allow you to convert the Irish DTT MPEG4 encoded broadcasts to MPEG2 for your TV to display. Your TV will need a CI slot in the side of the TV. Please check your TV manual before ordering for details on the CI slot.

IF that site is broadcasting DTT and IF your TV is compatable with the card (as discussed on another thread on this forum), then yes it will. I have the same card in a compatable Sony TV picking up signal from 3 rock

(I got mine for about €55 incl delivery from a german site that wanted payment up front by account transfer - bit risky..)

You may not need a CAM, your Samsung may already have the correct MPEG-4 decoder built in. Check out this thread TV's with MPEG4 DTT decoder to see if your Samsung model is listed or alternatively check the specs in your manual.

I assume your "bbc ariel" is pointed towards a local deflector in Co. Cork, to receive the Mullaghanish DTT engineering test transmissions the aerial has to be pointed at Mullaghanish (Group A or Wideband aerial).

How do you currently receive the four Irish channels?

The CAM slot on the TV may be used for a future pay DTT service.

Nah you will need the cam its an MPEG2 TV you have .

Turbosat cards.... I'm sure they are rebranded Neotions, but try the Neotions first.

It works on LE 40A656A and LE 46A566P1XZF. It sounds like a similar model (except for that "p" which could be significant).

Anyway you will never know until you try.

See Saor TV : NOTE: If this product does not work with your TV you can return it to us. As long as we receive the product in satisfactory condition you will receive a full refund.
