Not the cheapest but I like the Eden Wolff. http://www.eden-hotel-wolff-muenchen.de/dynasite.cfm?dssid=4290&dsmid=62608

It's right beside the train station and is only 10 mins walk from the centre.

Lovely hotel, opposite the main Munich railway station: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/lemeridien/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1860

Can be pricey, sometimes there's offers on the web site, or on the internet booking sites.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Munich City Centre, this year and it was a perfect hotel, spotless and well located, ok not the cheapest hotel in the world at around €65/night but it is very well located and I was able to take the train direct from Munich Airport to Rosenheimer platz station which is a case of go up the stairs into a small shopping mall and a back entrance of the Hotel is located at the opposite side of the mall, very convenient for getting to the train without getting covered in Snow (it was spring time)!

Munich is an absolutely class city and I was there over the weekend and managed to get a ticket to Bayern Munich home game at the Allianz arena and visit the BMW Museum also. Beware in Munich (and most of Europe) all shopping ceases on Sunday and practically everywhere closes apart from a few restaurants, pubs and a few Turkish corner shops. They call it "Family day"!

Kultfabric near Ostabahnhof is an excellent place for a night out and is one of the best party districts I have ever been to!

I stayed at the InterCityHotel Munich earlier this year. It is actually in the same building as the central train station - so getting to your train is a breeze :). Good hotel, nice breakfast buffet. As a perk, they give you a free ticket for all public transport in Munich for the duration of your stay.

Ditto, I stayed at the InterCity on the same trip only in Bremen in northern Germany and I then flew down to Munich with Lufthansa. InterCity hotels are a bit like a German equivalent of the old Great Southern Hotels here as the hotel I stayed at in Bremen is also alongside the Bremen Hauptbahnhof (Railway Station) and I also got a free travel pass while there in what is a very modern hotel and not too overly priced hotel.

Decent hotel, in a great location. Sometimes you can get some great deals too.
