I've seen on various other forums, people posting their own fixtures for next year's league.

Has anybody out there got the full list as I'd like to get to a couple of games outside the capital next year, starting with Tipp v KK under lights in Semple, hopefully it'll be a cracker like their previous two encounters.

The fixtures are not yet confirmed, they have gone to the county boards for approval and while they are unlikely to change to much they still could change.

I have seen what is claimed to be the the provisional hurling fixtures if anyone is interested they are as follows but as already stated not sure if they are correct.

Round 1 – Cork v Offaly, Limerick v Galway, Tipperary v Kilkenny, Waterford v Dublin
Round 2 – Kilkenny v Offaly, Galway v Waterford, Limerick v Cork, Dublin v Tipp
Round 3 – Offaly v Dublin, Tipp v Galway, Cork v Kilkenny, Waterford v Limerick
Round 4 – Galway v Offaly, Dublin v Kilkenny, Waterford v Cork, Limerick v Tipp
Round 5 – Offaly v Limerick, Dublin v Cork, Tipp v Waterford, Kilkenny v Galway
Round 6 – Waterford v Offaly, Cork v Tipp, Galway v Dublin, Limerick v Kilkenny
Round 7 – Offaly v Tipp, Kilkenny v Waterford, Galway v Cork, Dublin v Limerick

Yes I heard this too. Also I think the locations are in reverse, eg last year Waterford played Dublin in parnel this year its in waterford.
Don't know what way it works for the Offaly games though.

Yeah, forgot to mention all the Divsion 1 teams will need to organise a challenge match against Clare just to ensure they are fully prepared for the championship!!

Sure he'll be out of a job when the Dubs beat the Deise on their home patch ;):p

Seriously though, I really do hope that we improve upon our performance in this year's league and I'd love to see us push for a top 4 place which, given a bit of luck, I could see happening. Some of our U21s from this year will hopefully step up to the Seniors.

I'm looking forward more to following the hurler's campaign in the league than the big ball brigade (who'll probably stutter their way through the league and just about escape relegation).

Much prefer to have away games against the stronger counties as I'd be much more likely to travel to them, I'll go to the home games either way.

    Are you from waterford?? lol
Yeah provided its done carefully I think we have a few fellas that are worth trying out. As long as they don't throw to many on at the one time... Thats when theres problems. Also this is when we'll find out how good the young fellas are!

Because, I dont think my dad will want to go to those matches (he does the driving, not me!) if they're home advantage for waterford and dublin.

although i did get to every match this year but dublin like .

I'm living just down the road from Parnell Park this year so I'll hope to get a few Dublin games in. The one vs Tipp in week 2 looks a good one.

Is it true that Mike Mac said that he would put a development squad playing in the league this year. Wonder will he even be in the job come League Time. Do ye want Davy. Not too many down here will try and stop him going.

This is going off topic so I'll edit if i need to but when abouts will they decide the championship draw?

Oh and I just noticed its all the big games Waterford are away for; Galway, Kilkenny, Tipperay.
One match I cant see me getting to is Galway :( The one I really wanted!

Draws are usually in the middle of October.

A bye to the semi final and a game there against Limerick would be nice again this year. Easiest path to another munster final.

    Wouldn't mind playing Clare either..
We had it easy(sorry soccy) this year and last year(it should have been easy) Worst case scenario(sp) we end up having to play Cork then the winner Tipperary.. That would be a horrible draw.

anyways.. Deise_girl, no worries. Wouldnt blame you wanting a draw with us tbh. Wouldnt mind a draw with either ye or clare either.

Clare might be better than what people think. This year, like Cork, Waterford and Kilkenny, they ran Tipperary very close and could have won. Also next year they are playing in division two of the league and i expect that some people might not be watching them, the same way they would if they were in division one.

Clare National Hurling League Fixtures - Division 2

    Feb 21 Home Down
    Feb 28 Away Laois
    Mar 14 Home Wexford
    Mar 21 Away Antrim
    Mar 28 Away Carlow
    Apr 4 Home Westmeath
    Apr 18 Away Kildare

Clare hurling had a bad year this year ...did not win a match ...
except for under-21s which gave us a lot of hope for next year...
Clare were definitely a team in transistion in 2009...we can always hope..

As for Munster ....Clare can always put it up to any team on their day..

How do you think Clare will do in Division two. Antrim and Wexford wont be easily beaten and maybe Laois and Carlow might not be bad in that division either. its important that Carlow do well in the league i think, and have a few wins under their belt before the championship commences, otherwise they will get badly beaten in Leinster and in the qualifiers.

Personally if Clare cant beat Wexford, Antrim, Carlow and them they have no business in munster... I know they're in transition but really they should be hoping for the final anyhow...

And soccy don't get yourslef banned, deep breaths :) Your wan was banned anyway.

Earlier this year, Mike Mac was saying he would not play his best team in Division two of the league. If he dont or put out as near to full strength team, then they might find the going tough. Maybe come the league he wont be in the job and Clare will have taken Davy off our hands.

Lol Think thats really what your hoping for, isn't it?!
If it were up to me I'd want Clare out of there straight away. They're a good hurling county and it's almost an insult for them to stay there unneccesary.

With just eight teams in division one, you are going to have some good teams in division two. There is what, maybe 10 teams that you could say on any given day are capable of winning a hurling all-ireland, which means that at least two of them has to play in division two, one of which will come up at the end of the campaign. It was Offaly this year, it might not necessarly be Clare next year.

In saying that you have about ten teams that can win the all-ireland, i know you have some that are a little ahead of the others, but every so often these teams have off days and when thye do, anything could happen. Antrim showed this in 1989 when it was expected Offaly only had to turn up for an All-Ireland semi final and look what happened there, and we wont say anything about Waterford and Kerry in Walsh Park in 1993.

A one-off result is a little different from winning the AI. Neither Antrim or Kerry went on to come near winning a second consecutive round did they?

Re. the league, I think seven teams in the 1st and 2nd divisions might actually be better, as div 2 would then have 3 top 10 sides and the rest would be mostly the "borderline" McCartthy-Ring counties like Antrim, Laois, Carlow, Westmeath who would benefit from getting to play the bottom few top 10 sides plus those at their own level. There's less of a gulf in standard between the 8th and 14th best teams than there is between 9 and 16, and there would be more competition at the top. The extra week could optionally be used for a semi with the 2nd team home to number 3 for the right to play 1 in the final.

Big problem there is AI's are'nt won on one day, the reality is starting off next year there are 5 teams at the most with any realistic chance of becoming All-Ireland champions and that number of 5 is me been very generous ;)

true, but as i said, on any given day, anything could happen, and as less and less teams are left, in a two, four etc horse race, then the chances of a shock result is more likely.

    They're official now http://www.gaa.ie/plugins/newsfeed.cgi?rm=content&plugin_data_id=27967
Meath home to Armagh, Westmeath, Laois and Kildare and away to Down, Tipperary (ouch) and Donegal (double ouch). Bad thing about the Tipp and Donegal games is they're Saturday evening games so it'll be an overnighter :(
Would have gladly swapped one of our home games to have Donegal or Tipp in Pairc Tailteann.

You Meath lads are soft ;)

You could drive back from Ballybofey (where the Donegal match will be) in 2 1/2 hours.
