Planning on doing Gap of Dunloe and Molls Gap along with a third I can't remember before I head on to Cork- anyone about down there? Kinavara Co Galway through the Burren by Cliffs of Moher tomorrow then ferry across Shannon and on to Killorglin.

I will be wrecked and carrying stuff so easy pace!

    No, 9am

    /tonto

Seriously though I need to get to Cork. Could manage 930 if someone actually there- have a vague recollection of someone living in Killorglin!

There is a fabulous road that goes from Castleisland right into cork city called "the butter road".Its an old trading route,I was on it in the millstreet area the last couple of weeks.I know you would like it,incredible views and good climbs and descents.

I'm in Killorglin. I could be up for a spin but I have to be back to prepare for GAA later in the day, so I would have to turn off at Molls Gap to return via Killarney, the earlier the better!

That sounds positive I'll PM my phone no. I'm staying in a guest house on the Killarney rd right beside town I think.

@emty: thanks will look that up may be sans GPS as charger died thankfully I have a map too.

The Butter Road was part of the Rebel Tour. Steep at the start, but gets much easier higher up.

    What a view though.

    Hi Blorg.

I will meet you at the Gap of Dunloe. Would be happy to guide you thru the wilds of Kerry. What way are you heading to Cork (ie via Killarney and main Cork Road or via Bantry).

If going the former I would suggest Logh Guitane route around Killarney (on this route I would accompany you to Ballyvourney). If you want to head via Bantry I could accompany you to Glengariff via the Caha Pass.

If you are a glutton for punishment I could show you Priests Leap. 400m of climbing in 4kn (most of it in the last 2km), followed by a terrifying descent into Ballylickey.

Looking fwd to it all ready.

I had planned on heading towards Gougane Beara (spell?) and then go in Macroom and Coachford just as it looks like a smallish road relatively but I am completely flexible as long as I get to Cork by 6 or so. I don't need to go by GB I have seen it before. Don't particularly want coast from Bantry have cycled the small roads east of Clonakilty before and N71 not great if I went that way.

Fantatsic. Always wanted to head there, but havent had the time yet.

    Two ways then

Borlin Valley via Kilgarvan or Top of Coom via Morleys Bridge.
I will pm you my phone to arrange where to hook up/time etc.

Think I saw you guys today on the killorglin side of beaufort. I was on a slightly too small road bike with tri bars myself. Hope you had a good day of it. Nice jerseys too!

Hi, I was without the tri bars, met up with ROK ON over the Gap of Dunloe. Cake in Avoca, then we had to part company, I headed back to Killorglin Blorg and ROK ON were last seen heading of towards Kenmare with the ambition of climbing the Priests Leap. I'm looking forward to their report.

Hi Lescol. Great to meet up. Yep we did Priests Leap, rather it did me.
I blew up badly after falling off - lost control ascending.
Ivan pegged it up and raced up with some bloke.

I think Ivan was delighted to do it, but unlike me, it held no fears for him.

Sorry to hear that, hope there was no damage. Is this Priests Leap a vertical wall? I don't know where to find it, but it sounds a future challenge.
