Hi all due to redundancy had to sell my car and I have got one of the above, Can or is there anything I can do to up the bhp to like 120 or 130 without damaging the engine, The reason I need to do this is I live in a rural area with very few spots to overtake tractors and the like and I don't fancy being stuck 8 to 10 miles behind one,

Rgds all and thank you for your help

P.S would it be expensive if it can be done

I would imagine that a nearly 50% increase in power would be a bit much to expect, but I'm open to correction.

Although according to http://www.auto-tune.ie/carlists/ford.html you should be able to get 114bhp... for around €375

Thats on a TDCi. The TDDI is an antique unit that I doubt is really tuneable at all beyond what it ships at.

The TDDI is an Endura D, the TDCI is a Duratorq.

Does that engine date back to the Sierra?

If so, I doubt there's much that can be done

    It most certainly does not.

It dates back to the Orion.

    :D

Even the TDCi isn't very tunable by all accounts.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Endura-D_engine
Originally branded Lynx it had 1.8 DIESEL stamped on its rocker cover, it is an engine which has featured in the Ford range since the late 1980s in models such as the Mk.3 Ford Fiesta, Mk.4 Ford Escort (Europe), Ford Sierra, and Mk.1 Ford Mondeo. The 1.8 itself was a development of the (then all-new) 1.6 Diesel unit, originally first featured in the Mk.3 Ford Escort and Mk.2 Ford Fiesta.

Still branded Lynx, later engines had Endura-DE stamped on the rocker cover, and first featured in the Mk.4 Ford Fiesta, Mk.6 Ford Escort (Europe)and Mk.2 Ford Mondeo

    Very dated in my book!

Not very dated at all in fact, Both are Duratorq.

The TDDi engine was a stopgap engine between the old endura TD engine and the TDCi engine that came out in 01-02

Essentially they are the same except the TDCi has a common rail fuel injection.

I've owned both, the TDDi was a fantastic engine, never gave an ounce of trouble but the TDCi had better fuel economy

Sure the Volkswagen TDI date back decades, doesn't alter the fact that VW did a good job continuously improving it and pushing the power boundries. Fair enough it isn't common rail, and it's a bit rattly it's still a dfecent lump.

From what I've heard about the engine, it doesn't have much tuning potential. that's not to say it's a bad engine.
