"After a thorough discussion of the subject of the use of two-way radio in races, the Management Committee decided to accept the UCI Road Commission's recommendation to gradually phase out the use of two-way radio for all categories of rider."

Interesting to see how the riders react following the experiment with this in the TdF

It will never happen they say they will go ahead but teams will refuse to race with out them im all for Tech in sport. I think radio,s are great and good for the sport it shame the bio passport is being scrapped.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but it does suggest that they'll allow one-way radio? It'd still allow them the usual safety notices they get which I think was one of the most vocal concerns during the TdF.

I noticed the frequent mention of "two-way" too, so would be curious to hear more detail. Unlike the experiment in the Tour, a blanket ban means teams will either have to like it or lump it. You can't refuse to race or pretend-your're-racing-but-really-aren't as we saw in the Tour.

Bio passport isn't being scrapped, just the separate classification for pro-continental teams.

They can just employ those half-naked chaser trolls to relay information back to the team car. Or sign language to the Eurosport cameras.

While I personally think it's totally pointless to ban radios, I do admire the UCI for shrewdly deflecting attention from a problem that's arguably unsolvable (doping) and instead moving it to one that's easily extirpated (hiding radios.) It's kind of like finally coming to terms with the fact you're never going to learn how to speak Turkish and just deciding to walk around every day in a fez instead.

He made tea come out my nose. Again.
