    I believe it's a 10k - 3 laps of the town.

In previous years it appears to be Mens race 10k and Womens 3k. I have no idea why that is:confused: or whether it's the same this year

that may explain why they have no distance advertised , 3k for a road race is very short !

Have run Hollymount a few times and I've never agreed with the men's race/women's race split. It's a throwback to many years gone by an is resented by many women runners I know. I also know many women that avoid the race completely because of the distinction. For what it's worth, I believe women are not actually prevented from taking part in the 10k although I've yet to see a man in the 3k :)

a bit insulting alright ,a pity bout this race especially since its part of the mayo series which is a great league for the west of the country with a very good standard for both male and female atheletes.

I've heard through the grapevine that there will be a separate 10k race earlier in the day in Hollymount. I think it's a fit4life race so not not part of the league and obviously all inclusive. If I hear anymore info about it I'll post it here.

If I not mistaken this is the 44th running of the Hollmount International RR. Why fix what is not broken.
Is it the seperate races or the different distances that are upsetting people.

the distance mainly , 3k for the women versus 10k for the men kind of gives off the impression that the women arent up to anything more !
44th year running ,then definitely time to change , how many women took part and ran in the first RR compared to now ?!
also have taken part in some of mayo series races and really enjoyed them however i dont think i would be willing to travel over an hr for a 3kroad race

That is ridiculous, 3k for women and 10k for men?? Never heard anything like it!! Definitely put me off.
