    First link is borked :o

Only issue really is that if you get a contemporary mobo you should spend the extra couple of Euro to go up to a higher-clocked Athlon2 - they run a lot cooler than the 65nm Phenom dualies.

What is up with me lately?! Should have seen that myself...

IMHO the mobo is really cutting a corner too far, given that you have a far more modern and superior all-round mobo for under €40 just a bit lower down the list. Really depends on whether your mate wants to spend the extra €4.41 but if he wants decent performance and better reliability he'd be mad not to - that nForce4 mobo is ancient at this point and may not even support an old Phenom like the X2-7550, let alone an A2/P2.

As for CPU? That old Phenom you listed is just 2.5GHz and it really poops off power - that little thing is a 95W CPU! It is truly dirt-cheap at this point though, so you still might want to stick with it. If you also bear in mind your mate's ESB bill you'd save him some money in the long run getting a faster, cooler (65W) Athlon2 for a few pennies more. The 2.8GHz incarnation (X2-240) is ~€48 with <€4 gaps between it and the 245 and the 250. They'd be much happier with the above mobo too - get that in any case! :)
