    In short -

No job, No real chance of getting a new job, and none at the rate of pay I was on. House in arrears from a late jump onto property ladder (big payments) and job loss. Court notices sent out. 2 kids and another on the way, other loans. Banks calling three times a day sometimes.

Have 120k from inheritance, I am thinking of just quitting this place and making a go for it in the uk with the family, just getting the hell out, just cannot bear it anymore made a huge mistake in thinking we could afford to live this way, hell awaits if I clear our debts with no job we could be in the same boat again in 12 months time.

I've got to be realistic and think about my kids future, I think I've been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a fresh start. Got some distant relatives over there so might not be that bad if we are a bit closer to them.

    go for it!

The UK will exit recession before we do. with your nest egg, you can get a car, and rent a house, and land the 1st job you can find, as .

having relatives might help you with combat any homesickness, and a few contacts can help land you a job quicker too.

    sounds like a good opportunity.

I work in the IT industry and there are already signs that I would have some interviews at the very least over there and hoping even a half decent job, as I've the latest certs etc.

I'm worried about what it would be like for my kids to grow up over there, getting the job might be the easy bit.

    so you got 120k??
So cop on and pay your debt, which you were man enough to get into keeping up wit the "Jones".
Then get your ass into a job on ANY rate of pay...

quitter? I don't think the OP is thinking of skipping the country without selling up etc., just thinking about winding things up here and heading away. They might be able to rent that house to cover the mortgage or sell and pay some of it off etc. The way things are going here, it's definitely worth seeing what's available over there... I would say do some research but it's not too late for a fresh start esp. with that safety net under you. Alot of people don't have that so are just trapped here whereas you have an option :)
