I have been mad busy over the summer and have not played Live much,so I have missed the launch of the Voodoo Card Club.I did a search and cant find anything on the numbers each night, can anybody fill me in on the numbers..?

I hate going into the city and finding crap numbers a mate was in the sporting emporium last night and it had 10/11 runners,at that rate you are better off playing online.

afaik the numbers are not great, but I've only been in once so I can't really comment with much authority.

Have only played there once (a saturday shortly after it opened) and there was only ~15 runners but it was a v good structure and well worth a visit.

Hopefully the numbers have picked up a bit since then.

Monday, Tuesday & Thursday nights are hitting three plus tables,
Sunday satellite a bit hit or miss, the rest are poorly attended.

My club of choice now. Tuesday is packed, Monday getting the same way, Wednesday has a decent turnout for Roy Brindley sponsored event which is only running two weeks but looks like it will take off, Thursday, last night had 30 runners and decent cash action. Tonight they should get 25+ runner and Sunday they have the main event for the trip to Vegas for WSOP10. The club isnt perfect by any means but its a whole lot better in many ways than anything else out there at the moment.

Went along last night to play the donkament. Arrived late and tourney had 1 table. Bought in and stuck the 1st stack in ahead but was dogged. Similar story for reload but when I went to get my add on I was told I was out.

Tried to argue my case in vain that the tourney was advertised on their site as Triple Decker, (two rebuys or add-ons) €20+€20+€10 2000 + 2000 + 4000.

Tried to explain that I'd only rebought once but one of the investers piped up and was doubtless in his opinion that I was out. Players were more than happy for me to rebuy but investor was having none of it. So that was it...

I'd really like to hear an explanation from someone involved in the club as this certainly isn't consistent with the previous reports that the club is a bastion of hospitality. I'd expect that type of behaviour from someone I'd busted not a representative of the club.

    €30 on a cab
€45 on donkament tax and too late to enter anything else.

Had I known the real structure I definitely wouldn't have turned up.

I really don't know how you could dare compare the club to "anything else out there at the moment". The tables are nice and a few of the staff have a clue what they're doing but thats where it ends.

A few weeks back my interweb connection was playing up so I decided to do a bit of grinding at the club.

I was told by one of the staff that the Sites offering Cash in/out are Paradise Poker, Devilfish, Gutshot and Irish Eyes. As I have an RB deal on Devilfish (and they host my game of choice) I thought I'd give the club a spin.

When I arrived at the club I was told that only Irish Eyes and Gutshot were available as the other networks were "out". How odd, Is Irish Eyes not on the same network as Devilfish?

Told the girl that I would have to deposit on Irish Eyes (No RB but still plenty of value) and was told to set up a new account linked to the club...

So you're asking me to set up a second account? Thats against the site rules..

"Eh..I guess not" came the reply.

Just after midnight last night I received a text telling me that a cash game had broken out. By that time I was well settled in Lukes still trying to make sense of the nights events.

    Lukes is great.

    1) It's got atmosphere.
    2) It's got style.
    3) It had 3 cash tables last night.
    4) If Luke advertises something it will run exactly how he advertises it and he will not move the goalposts to suit himself.

Billy, I'd be very interested in hearing how Voodoo is "a whole lot better in many ways than anything else out there at the moment".

    Oh and welcome to boards.

Wasn't there last night so obviously can't comment. But I do find your situation a bit strange to say the least.

Usually ANY tourney in the Voodoo that has rebuys / topups you are given white chips to represent each topup / rebuy you are allowed. If you have a white chip left you can rebuy , if you have none then your out. So playing last night you should have been given 2 white chips for your rebuy / add-ons when you sat down.

Simple question where you given these chips or not? If you were and you had none left then you were out simple.

Thats the way it's always been everytime I play in there (which is abiout 3 times a week) so find this strange to say the least. As for comments aout Poker sites they have there, anytime I've been there I've beeen able to play on Full Tilt, Paddy Power, Pokerstars & William Hill and never heard the other sites are down excuse.

    Given no white chips
Maybe I just imagined the whole catastrophe

I was there last night and everyone got a white re-buy chip and a brown top-up chip. The reason for the different colours was you could only have the to-up if you still had chips at the break. The re-buy is €20 for 2000 chips while the top-up is €10 for 4000 chips. The structure is designed to stop donkey play and make players think about chip management. Those who do are rewarded with a big value option at the end of the re-buy period. It’s different and may have some merit. It is also explained on a big poster in the card room. Maybe you missed all this and are just voicing your own personal frustrations at how you played and you are taking it out on others. Not an untypical losers reaction I think you'd agree.

I don’t think the club is perfect but it is in my opinion one of the best in the city at the moment with more to offer club members than any other. I haven’t been to Lukes yet as it’s a bit too far out of town for me.

The Voodoo is what it is with a huge degree of thought put into the layout and a terrific attitude from the staff. The player lounge and reasonably priced restaurant along with free internet usage are some of the things I meant when I made my last post. How can this be bad for poker players?

My point was that it was advertised as A and run as B.

How can I possibly be unhappy with my play when I got it in ahead in a donkament for €20? It was meant as a bit of fun and I definitely wasn't taking it seriously.

Free internet to play on your site of choice is great but don't advertise cash in/out facilities which are non-existent.

If I want to play pool I'll go to a pub.
If I want to eat cheaply I'll go to McDonalds.
If I want to play poker I'll go to Lukes.
