Setanta Soccer coverage in NI - why subscribe?

Notice from yesterday's Belfast Telegraph that Setanta were advertising Scottish League Cup match between Queen of the South and Rangers. However this match was covered live on BBC Scotland. I presume this will be the case with future ties in this competition so as not to disadvantage viewers in Scotland who at present cannot receive Setanta. As BBC Scotland is FTA there is no real advantage here in NI in subscribing to Setanta if you're a soccer fan and want to see soccer from across the Irish Sea as Saturday afternoon PL matches are not avalable here and Scottish League Cup games are FTA on BBC Scotland.

BBC Scotland will cover games in the Scottish cup because they have the rights to do so. It has nothing to do with Setanta having the rights in Ireland. Setanta have Irish rights only.

I understand your point and you're correct. However while Setanta have Irish rights to Scottish League Cup there is an anomaly i.e. that while BBC Scotland hold Scottish rights to the same competition they are available throughout the island of Ireland FTA while Setanta are not available in Scotland. Question still remains - will Setanta Ireland choose a different game in any of the remaining rounds of SLC than BBC Scotland? If not there is really no advantage of subscribing to Setanta in Ireland.

    Unlikely
