    Hi all,

I have an HKC alarm fitted to my house. I downloaded the manual for such from the their website. The alarm was fitted to the house before I bought it.

I know you can get the alarm system to send you text messages of when it goes off, event logs etc. My question is, is there anyway I can get a log of when the alarm was set and unset sent to my phone as an SMS or is there anyway of finding such information on the system?

    Thanks.

I'm not overly familiar with alarms but I was in a similar situation recently where I bought a house with a previously installed alarm.

When the alarm guy called over to show me how to use it etc he said in conversation that it does log when the alarm is activated/deactivated etc.
And insurance companies will look for these logs in the event of big claims so dont try and pull a fast one

I've no idea if you can get access to them but I'd say probably not.
best person to ask would probably be your alarm installer

    Hi Amateur,
The alarm can do this but you need a hkc gsm fitted to the system for this to work. Have you got the eng code ? You need this to access the main log of the system or if it is the user log your looking for just enter 0#1 on the keypad..
Most installers can access details and change the eng code on the hkc system without defaulting it keeping the programing intact for you to view.
Hope this helps, any problems let me know..

It is used for remote access for the hkc alarm panel through a sim card e.g setting, unsetting of your alarm. It will send alarm activations to your phone in the event of your alarm going off.

The user log is used to view who turned on and off the alarm

The eng code will of being changed by the installer, you can try its 04567, but i would say its being changed. The main log has all events of the alarm stored in it.

Thanks for this information. I was able to access the log by entering 0#1. However only a couple events seem to be logged here - is there any way of extending the number of events that are logged?

There is no way of extending this, it only gives you a record of events since you last armed the system.
If you had a hkc gsm set up you could send a text to the panel to receive the logs..

Thanks for your reply. Being honest I'm not sure if i have hkc gsm set up so..

How can i check if i do?

And even if i dont, i'd be interested to know how i would "could send a text to the panel to receive the logs"?

Cheers for all your help altor.

You need to look & see if there is a GSM dialler installed.
If there is there are various commands you text to the panel & it replys with the log or set/unsets the system etc..

    Your welcome,
The gsm would be beside the panel "not the keypad" it has a sim card inside and an aerial coming out of it. If you go on to hkc.ie you can see what they look like.

Not at home at present but do think i have this. Its next to the keybad but near where the phone line comes in to the house. I do have the facility of getting a text message anytime the alarm goes off. So maybe I can text it also? The text gets sent from the house phone number.

You have a modem card that will only text you when the alarm activates. The gsm uses a sim card but because you have a phone in the house i would not say you have one. You can send the last 7 non user events with the modem card by putting in 0*2 into the keypad and entering the phone number of who you want them sent to but you have to be at the keypad to do this. With the hkc gsm you can text the panel and it will send it to your phone.

Hi all. Not sure if this is the right tread but it's to do with logs.

    I have a HKC 10/70 which I installed myself.

The issue I'm having is that the log is empty. It doesn't show when the alarm has been activated.

    Any ideas?

Are you accessing the log via engineer?

If you go into engineer mode. Service menu, scroll to log menu, yes, view log yes. This should have all the log events.

    Hi Altor.

I've tried that and the log is empty.

I have never seen the log empty on a 10/70.
Once it is set up for EN the logs cant be deleted either.
When you go into engineer mode does it as for the user code after putting in the engineer code?

    Thats a strange one.
Could be memory or software corrupt. Have you tried a restart?

Ok so just to update on this I tried everything and nothing worked so got onto tech support who logged into the panel and it turns out to be faulty so will pop it up to HKC tomorrow to get it repaired.
