I have decided to introduce my brother to the world of surround sound (for his 40th birthday)

I want to buy a 1 box system, upscaling to 1080p, HDMI out and in if possible, optical and/or coax if possible. I just want an Amp and the 5.1 speakers, I dont want a DVD player, I am sure he has 1 or 2 already...€200 budget.

What products would meet my requirements?

    Regards,

    macnab.

I just realised his birthday is next Tuesday, so I need to buy this ASAP.

McNab - I hope the Bro' does not read Boards and now realises you don't know what date his Birthday is?

Anyway - I cannot believe I'm going to say this - but I don't actually have anything that I can do within your budget - our previous budget busting Yamaha NSP110 5.1 speaker kit which we sold at £79 is now discontinued and I'm out looking for an alternative.

I can do the HTS3020 at €149.99 - less your 10% Boardies Philips Shop discount - which nets out at €129.99 - however this unit actually includes a DVD & a tuner however it does not have HDMI out nor does it 1080P upscale - but hey it's €139.99!

At €200 at the moment I don't have a separate 5.1 amp & 5.1 speaker kit that I can offer (want to add a zero then it gets much simpler?

Thanks again and keep me posted,

    ATB,
