    Hi Guys

I usually have a look at the forum and I'm looking for some advice I've got in contact with a company from Europe that make a very innovative lighting and display product after seeing it while inter railing.

Now basically after emails back and forth the sales team have allowed me to sell the product and gave me the marketing material etc. The product comes in at €26,000 plus vat. It seems a little pricey but it is an extremely unique and no nightclub in Ireland has it.

I'm in college and I see this as a great learning curve but obviously want to make the return but if I get turned away so be it, it’s more for the thrill and the experience. Does anybody have experience pitching to this industry and have any tips.

    Thanks in Advance.

€26,000 to you?or to them and you clip the ticket on that?

Wrong time I'm afraid. No night club is going to pay that nowadays. Even if it was Jesus Christ himself waving sparklers around.

Would agree about the timing, I have heard that a particular nightclub in Leinster needs to get 3,000 people a night on a Thurs / Fri / Sat just to break even and they ain't coming close to half of those figures.

In saying that, as you have come so far with the project, I think it would be worth pursuing a couple of meetings, if there is no costs to you. Firstly, it will give you good expereince, secondly, you may see some other oppotunity and thirdly you never know, maybe someone might bite.

Do they sell well in the UK? What would the conversion rate be?

Its €26000 to them with a small return for me. I knew the "R word" word would be brought up regards price and I have at least 1 meeting lined up so I will get some feedback straight away. Some lights are €1000 a piece if it is any comparison.

Derekme the product has been used at launch parties for Nokia,Mercedes, Siemens, also featured on stage in Euro vision to name a few and is present in the what is supposed to be the best nightclub in Prague and in many others through out mainland Europe but its not been sold in the Uk either. I am going ahead with it as it is only time and energy and present and as I’ve said its more experience I’ll gain if nothing else.

Renting it to launch parties would work as well but requires the product to be bought and I cant see a bank giving me 30k to run a business part time.

I have not doing anything regards accounting in my business course as of yet but can such purchases not be off set as expenses?

    Thanks for the replys guys

previous launches will provide you with really good case study material

can you argue that the nightclub could add €xx on to the charge for a launch night if they have this new system? This could be really helpful with the cost / benefit analysis for the nightclub. Could be good for say someone like Wrights in Swords which has had a number of product launches

you might consider getting feedback from blue chip brand managers who organise big launch events and the marketing companies who organise these events. It would be good to have the marketing director of Vodafone saying that they would use the system if they were launching a phone. In turn this could give the nightclub which has the system a USP to be considered for the launch event

    good luck with it

You say they gave you a merchandising pack, did this include brochers, videos etc. You would have to make a presentation to the relevant companies to pitch it too them. Wrights in swords would be your best bet nightclub wise i reckon. Time in Naas might work as well.

Yes I've gotten glossy brochures and a nummber of videos, including news pieces from Australian news and Playboy launch parties along with a general display of its abilities video.

Yes since discovering the product they've been the target. I'm pitching to a different place 1st to see if somebody in the industry uncovers other issues I may have overlooked to ensure a perfect meeting with them.
