    Guys,

I was installing the vista service pack on a vista machine, and I got the !!0xc0000034 !! error, I let it run its course and the machine powered down. When I turned on the machine later it went to the repair options section, and I then selected to restore the machine from a previous point. The only point available to me was the point just before the SP install, so I run this ....and many...many.....many hours later its still running (at the finalise point)

and basically I'm stuck in this loop.

so how the heck to I get out of this one. I can wipe the machine and reinstall, but I cant find the recovery disc (prob under the bed or back of the feckin wardrobe)......I have a fresh install disc, and I have changed the boot order to start with the dvd drive, but no go....it just takes me back into the loop..

    any help ?
    Please ?

Did the machine ship with Vista pre-installed? Are you offered the "restore to factory condition" option in the repair boot-screen?

    it came with vista installed,

    the options i get are
start up repair.....which gets me nowhere
system restore.....which just puts me in a loop
windows complete restore - which restores from a back up (dont have one)
    windows memory diagnostic tool ???
    command prompt
restoring the complete windows operating system - this looks for the product recovery disc...which I cant find

    Mmmmmm. Problem.
Are sure that it actually asks for a disc, and that there isnt a hidden partition containing a recovery image? Unfortunately I dont currently have a Toshiba OEM Vista DVD ( see http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=144871&cat=500 ) othewise i would make you a copy (sans product key, which wouldn't be required for re-installation onto a Toshiba PC anyway)

the last option of completly restoring the windows operating system just opens up an screen that states "if preinstalled files are damaged, you can use the product recovery DVD-ROM to restore them"
    and
"when you reinstall the windows operating system, the hard discs will be reformatted an all data will be lost"
    and then press OK

And if you press "OK" what happens?
does it find the image file on the hidden partition and re-install?
