Am about to have a very wet bathroom floor after converting it to a sort of wet room. As the toilet and washbasin will still be in use after the room has been used as a shower, does anyone have a recommendation for a really absorbent squeegy mop or any other type?.

Consider on of the ones with rubber blade / scraper on one side and a sponge on the other.
