Dualshock 3 Problem

    Ok lads i have a problem with my controller... got it about a month ago off ebay from china i think... it was working grand on my ps3 but i brought it up o college with me for a different ps3..

    So i've synced it with the cable but it won't work. it's red light is on 1 and 2 for some reason but it won't work. On pro evo it's down as controller 2 but it won't move or anything.

    Anyone have the same problem?

    Ya probably but it was still working grand before i put it on the other ps3

    Have both PS3s got the same firmware version?

    Yeah a controller i got from china was fake. It was a really good imitation, i only realised it was fake when i updated to firmware 3.0 and it stopped working so im gonna assume the ps3 you sync'd it with in college had that 3.0 firmware and your one at home didnt.

    Have you reset the controller ? ,should be a pinhole reset button on the back of it.

    I tried all that but the fake controllers just dont work anymore with the 3.0 firmware. It might work for you op, fingers crossed an all.

    Doing this fixed a problem I had with a Sixaxis after I synced it with a different PS3. The problem was the joypad would only work when the USB cable was connected.

    Thank for the help lads... never realised there was a fake one even though i knew the conroller didn't feel right.. thats probably it.. I'll just send the seller a message, hope to get my money back and buy a proper one in the shop

    How long ago did you buy the joypad? You might be able to pursue it with Paypal.

    Turns out it was over 60 days ago so s/he can't refund on paypal? offered to give me ds games but they're of no use to me and it's to much hassle.
