    Hi,

Quick question. Bought a used car last week and nct date is this Sunday. I have only recieved the registered owner certificate this morning. Do i now have to tax the car before the nct or do i need it to pass the nct before they will tax it? Sorry if this is a dumb Q...

    Cheers

No , you don't need a current NCT to tax your car. When the NCT was first brought in to ireland you did need to but that only lasted for a year or so. anyway with the current NCT backlog you would be waiting ages to drive your car !!! . just make sure that you have an NCT appointment made just in case a guard stops you.

Cheers. So if my car isn't taxed by Sunday will it still be ok to go for the nct?
