With train journeys taking an hour or more, it makes sense to use the time to access e-mails etc if you can. I'm using vodaphone mobile broadband on the Maynooth line- works quite well overall i.e. I can access my e-mails, read news websites etc etc
Interested in your own experiences throughout the country- O2, Meteor etc - are they worth purchasing ?

If it works, then don't change.

While it works, there is a lack of signal between Maynooth and Leixlip Stations- I think this thread would be useful for people who commute and are considering buying mobile broadband for their laptops/ net-books etc to see if it's worth their while- the more places in Ireland people report back on the clearer the picture we will all have on what providers are viable options for mobile broadband- for instance, Meteor are only currently quoting certain major cities in Ireland when advertising their mobile broadband service.

We use o2 in Maynooth and it works exceptionally well.
We also use it on the train and it was fine.
