Lynch hotels has an offer at the moment for 2 rounds of golf, from a selection of courses in the west, and 2 nights B&B, from a selection of their hotels for 99 euro. There is some supplements such as an extra 20 for weekend (Fri/Sat). I have no connection with Lynch hotels but I think this is a great offer.

I just finalised details of a lads golfing weekend in Limerick at the start of October. We will play Adare on Friday (not sure which course, but even the poorer of the 2 is supposed to be ok) and Limerick County on Saturday. We have 2 nights in the George hotel in Limerick which I have stayed in before and liked. It should be a good location for a few social pints after the golf. All for 119 euro.

Other courses include Lahinch (Castle course, Shannon and Ennis. There are a few around Galway as well.)

    See http://www.lynchotels.com/offers/

ps. I know that lynch hotels is in examinership at the moment but I'm confident this will have no affect on our booking as they have been in examinership since mid July, I think.

    Super deal.
I emailed Lynch Hotels and it is indeed the Adare Golf Club (host of the Irish Open) that is the one listed. So it is a superb deal.

You might want to double check that. There are two courses in Adare.
I think Adare Golf club is the old members club (nice little course) while Adare Manor is the Irish Open course. Could be wrong about which one is included in the deal but worth checking.

Normal green fee for adare golf club is €100+

Thanks for that, but if you read my post I stated that I did check it and it was confirmed Adare Golf Club, which is the club that hosted the Irish Open and has Adare Manor in it's grounds. The older club is caller Adare Manor Golf Club.

I can't believe the deal myself but that's what they confirmed to me.

Just wondering what people think of the following deal which a a group of us got:

We play the Old Head of Kinsale GC saturday and Fota Island sunday, 2 nights B&B and 2 evening meals for €255 per man.
The one stipulant is you need a minimum of 16.

Nice One! Until you posted that I didn't know which of the two courses we were playing next Friday. Wasn't too worried as I heard the older Adare club was worth a play too.

I was surprised that this thread seemed to be falling off the forum without a reply or comment. I still can't believe the value in it. Looking forward to next weekend. Lets hope the weather is good, the golf better and that Munster beat Leinster in the Magners League on Saturday after the golf!

Sounds ok. I suppose you are paying a bit of a premium to get both rounds during weekend and the 2 nights at the hotel are weekend too. Maybe sounds a bit much when they require you to have a minimum of 16.

I recently heard that the Old Head was pretty open to any reasonable offer (Approx €50 PP). Gone are the days of €1200 per tee time regardless of how many in the group. I haven't played there but I never thought they should have been allowed build it there in the first place.

old head is €75 per group of 16
fota is probably €60 a man.........they are starting open fourball comps every wed begining 7th oct. for €40

so 2 nights b&b in city centre for the rest(about €120) is pretty good

metropole has a pool and leisure centre and is almost in the middle of town(couldn't really say how good or bad it is),a few nice pubs and restaurants(isaac's) close by.......

hillbilly's for when your steamed looking for a snackbox.......;)

enjoy, hope the courses are in good nick
give a report back when your done,

Error on the itinerary, it is the maldron hotel (formally quality hotel i think) not the metropole as i thought, any idea how central the maldron is?...

also only one dinner but still seems ok value by the sounds of it

Probably fine but never stayed there was at a wedding there once and seemed nice enough
basically your under shandon bells........easy to find after a few pints;)

I know it has a gym & pool and is very close to town 5 mins down the hill over christy ring bridge to the opera house,

If a some of ye are going for a few pints and ye like the stout try dennehy's on coal quay...right old style small pub with creamy pints, not a place for a gang though,5 mins walk
for that maybe try the big super-pub across the road from it called bodega does food too so something there for all types
not a bad place for a few pints or to start off around the coal quay
4-5 different kind of pubs close to each other
all depends on age i suppose& what ye are looking for

walk to bottom of hill from hotel take a right along the river, about 200yards(181m:D) down just after the church cross the river over the foot bridge, dennehy's is just across the road on your left a few doors down, bodega is across from this

anyway ye probably have a few guy's that will know cork well enough
if not and you want advice on something or type of restaurant or directions
I'll give it a shot for ya,
    good luck

You might have checked it online but unfortunately it was the Adare Manor Golf Club and not the championship course :(

Played the Adare Manor Course on Friday and Limerick County on Saturday. Preferred Limerick County but the other course was still playable. The George hotel was central and the rooms and bar are nice. I still think its a great value deal.

I also rang and checked and was told it was the course where Irish open is played but I had my doubts so I was waiting for confirmation so thanks for posting. As you say it is still a great bargin so I think I would book Limerick and Castletroy or maybe Shannon or Lahinch castle anyone one got opinions on these. I will have to look up my hooked on golf and make a choice but first hand experience is always great.

Reports on Lahinch castle weren't great so I would probably try Limerick County and Castletroy as you suggessted. Limerick county, while not outstanding was a good course. The greens were spiked/hollowed but were still fair imo, and the facilities (driving range, putting/chipping greens, clubhouse etc) were all good. We hired buggys there for €15 which I think was a bit of a giveaway. Of those available I think Castletroy would be the next best.
