Why not just get it repaired?

As long as it's not on the side of the tyre you should be able to repair it.

i would be amazed if it wasn't a fail. any tyre place should be able to fix it for a 10 euro

No idea, just go and get it repaired. Fast fit tyres are open till 8pm most nights if your working.

As said, ten or fifteen quid will get that sorted. Shouldn't take more than five minutes

IF its not losing pressure you might get away with it once its not sticking out too far! Could always risk it, even if you pull it out and see if its losing pressure. squirt some water on the area with the hole, if it starts to bubble there will be a leak and youl need to get it replaced, otherwise just keep an eye on your pressure for the next few days.

To be honest i wouldn't risk driving on a nail even for a few days. All you're short is it causing a blowout

Dude, it'll cost you maybe €5 or €10 to get it fixed. It takes mabye 10 minutes for any garage to do it.

If you plan to go fast, please remember that it may pop, causing you to suddenly veer to one side, maybe into an oncoming car.

It will fail, they rotate the tyres and give them a close inspection, if you noticed it while the cars on the ground, the NCT fella will defiantly see it a foot away from his nose.

As said its not dear and you probably have a very slow puncture at the moment, so the tyre will be flat soon enough. Get it fixed.

This is a crazy thread. Now Im all for not doing any work before the NCT as its best to let them say what needs doing but this is just madness. Why drive around with a nail in your tyre? its quite possibly a safety issue and I certainly wouldnt be too comfortable leaning on that tyre entering a bend in case it might just deflate.
NCT guy with certainly see this. It would only be a visual fault though

I agree with mickdw - if your priority about driving around on a damaged tyre is whether you will pass a test in a week then maybe you should reflect on whether you should be allowed drive!

Get it repaired. Piece of mind. There are only 4 things that keep you on the road, and one of them could be damaged by a nail! Its nearly as bad as people saying "I got a tyre for €15! Bargain!" Not really. Its like saying "I got a heart op. Only €75!" One is a cheap tyre, the other is probably a tomato!

I do a lot of driving and have had nails stuck in my tyres before. Its so easy to get it fixed. I also have runflats, just in case :D

might aswell get it fixed because you'll lose out on time and money if you fail the test over it ,same thing happened to me and i got the nail removed and the hole filed with this hard goo like substance for only a fiver in mulhuddart

Is the OP for real? This has to be the dumbest thread ever... I can't believe so many of you guys are debating and deliberating.

A nail in your tyre, you get it repaired. End of.

You should get it repaired but I do know someone who didnt know she had a screw in here rear tire and when she was pciking up the keys at the end of the nct the tester said it passed but he found a screw in the rear tire and he marked it with some yellow paint or marker.

So it might pass if you are stupid enough to not get it repaired

Get it fixed, or perhaps have similar nails fitted to the other 3 tyres for balance? :D
