Pointing a VHF band III aerial at Mt Leinster

    Hi,

I've had to relocate my old vhf / uhf combination due to work getting done on my roof. The old VHF is scrap ... rusted through. So I have ordered a new one.

    https://www.eirss.ie/online_shop/aerials_aerial_accessories/triax_6_element_vhf_aerial_band_iii.html

I know I need to set this up vertically and "point" it at Mount Leinster. Can anyone tell me what pointing means with an aerial like this? In other words which is the sharp end once mounted on the pole.

    Thanks

    Fergal

Looking at the photograph you supplied, the back of the aerial is the dipole and longest element which are rear of the mast. The front is the 4 elements nearest you.

Holdind the aerial at the back and look down along it's length and point it towards Mount Leinster. It is then pointed at Mount Leinster.
