I've just been offered a job in a concession in Debenhams. The only problem is that I am barred from another Debenhams (shoplifting - not one of my finer moments) My question is do Debenhams share info with each other - names of people that are barred etc. If they do I can't take the job:(

is it in one of the old roches stores?

Yes it is but I don't think it makes a difference (?) as it is Debenhams I'm barrred from

well, you would be working for the concession and not debenhams so i wouldnt imagine they would share the info

But I would be working in Debenhams and using their facilities?? I just don't want to go in and be asked to leave!!

That's true. Was told that I was barred from Debenhams in general - presume it means all stores. Not sure what I'll do really.

Take the job and at worst get fired after getting some money from it?

i used to work in roches stores in blackrock, i didnt know anyone from the other stores. i doubt they would share the info, but thats just my opinion

Might be better suited to the Work & Jobs forum.

TBH, I think that you should have no problem with this. I'd start the job.

Yeah start. It's better to be working than not at all.
Sure IF they find out, at least you'll have got x-amount of work time, experience & pay. You've nothing to lose.
It's up to your' employer to check your' background although if you fail to reveal something which you may further rely on it could be held onto & used in/as evidence against you.
Ondly tell them what you want them to know. If you didn't get a conviction, then it's not really relevant.

They get so many shoplifters in town its very unlikely they'll remember you unless you are one of their persistent repeat offenders.
Id take it and see how it goes.

Like Masada, I doubt they make any effort to keep an eye out for any but the persistent offenders.

Of course, it might be a cunning ploy. Keep an eye on your paycheck, make sure they're not skimming a little extra to make up for the past ;)

Good luck in the new job!
