Can You Claim Benefits if you leave a job

    Hey

My girlfriend works in social care. Around last January she lost her job, which was a 9 to 5. The only alternative she managed to get was relief work i.e. 24 and sometimes 48 hour shifts. She has been doing this for 8 months but can no longer work nights. She needs to find a job which allows her to be home at night.

Although she has been looking everyday, she is not having much joy. If she left the other job citing the fact she cannot work nights and continued to look for a job that allowed her to be home at night, is she entitled to benefits of any kind ?

    Thanks for the help

If she leaves her job of her own free will and makes a claim for social welfare, she will be interviewed and asked why she left. She can then explain to the interviewer her reasons for leaving. If all is ok i dont see why she should not be entitled to payment.

She will be entitled ..no worries!! ..but only for 9 months period..not 12months!! ..I was diskriminated and the officer set, that people can leave the job but they will be entitled for a shorter period of JSB!! ..ofcourse u have to tell them some reason for leaving.
