College Football PC Games

Hey All, I'm a bigger fan of NCAA than of NFL so I was wondering. Does anyone know where I could get a NCAA football game for the PC? I don't have a console and even if I did none of the games I've seen for sale are set to the PAL region.

I know this is a pretty niche market but I was hoping that someone, somewhere has bought a game like this. Even if it was a really old version I just want to have mess around with it and drive The Irish to the Championship :p

So in summation, does anyone have, or know where I can get an NCAA Football game for the PC?

    Cheers

Thanks to Wiki the last NCAA Football game released on the PC platform was NCAA Football 99. You'd probably be better getting a PS3 and playing it on there since games on that console are region free:p

NCAA 10 wouldn't work on a European PS2 unless you get it chipped.

It's kind of a shame actually how there wasn't a PC version released in that timespan. Most EA Sports games like Madden, NBA Live, Fifa all had/have a PC Version so I wonder why NCAA doesn't?

    Folks,

Just to clear up my side of this. I received NCAA Football 12 from videogamesplus.ca one week after it shipped (I pre-ordered it from a month back) and I tried it on my mates Irish PS3.

It works perfectly with my Phillips HDTV on 1080p HD.

The sound doesn't work through my Elonex HDTV, I think this issue is with the telly though as the PS3 sounds come through perfectly on the main menu but when I start the game, the screen flickers to 720p and the sound stops working. However this happens on all the games on the PS3 on my Elonex TV so it's something I need to look at myself.

So the overall message is, NCAA Football 12 plays perfectly on an Irish PS3 that can play Irish PS3 games when shipped from the videogamesplus.ca site. (I presume this is the case for all games but I'm not willing to say definitely lest I be sued!)

I did have to setup an American EA, EA Sports and PSN account using a friends address in the States but it was hassle free really.

    Thanks for all the advice

Yup been doing this since NCAA football 2008.

We have some cheap Flatscreen with 1080 and a Samsung one also in the house and works perfect on both. Id defo say it is your telly. My mate has some other HDTV and it wont work right on his either. Seems its hit and miss on some tellys.

I should qualify the below by saying, you're asking someone who bought a PS3 purely to play this game! I've been dying to play a college football game for years and I didn't realise the PS3 games were region locked! When it arrived I skiped around the house like a little girl and then dropped my controller I was so excited :o

That been said, I think it's amazing. It uses the exact same game engine as Madden so the game play aspect is the exact same, which I find fast moving and really entertaining. The game is really 3 games in one, you've got your standard, control every player on team and play through seasons job, but you've also got Road To Glory, which lets you start off as a high school player, play only your position (which can be Iron Man in HS) and gain enough recruiting points to be drafted. Then you play through out your college career, earning coaches trust to get onto the team and unlock other in game opions such as audibles.

On top of that there's both an online and offline dynasty where you can coach a team, starting as a Offence\Defensive Cordinator at a crap school or a head coach at the best and work your way through your career, haven't played that at all yet cause there are not enough hours in the day with stupid work! You can do this online against other players as well which is cool.

And then ontop of all that you can create a team online and import them into the game

Watching some of the boards, the hard-core gamers seem to be giving out about too many dropped balls, sacks given up and not enough plays to your player in RTG mode but I really haven't noticed them yet, I've just seen some silly glitches where the Play of the Game will be a punt kicked back for touch back or in a replay all the players will be invisiblie.

But all in all it's meeting all my hopes so far and they were high!

haha I did the same when I found out the PS3 wasnt locked. Makes it 10 times better than the xbox in my eyes. :D

The best feature is the RTG love that feature. They have added iron man now? So you can select two positions in the RTG now? Thats awesome. Get plenty of ATH or WR/CB out of it :D

You know your days off are going to be locked in your room for the majority of the day playing this right? I found it more addictive than Madden.

One thing I found about the NCAA franchise the developers get patches for it out very quickly so if you have yours connected to the Net you will get updates soon. They are awesome for fixing their problems.

    RE: Sound issue.

My TVs are operating on two different HDMI sound settings. Once I changes tellies I just need to go to Sound Settings on the PS3>HDMI>(Press X which I didn't cop for a while)>Automatic.

The PS3 then determines the correct sound format to use and away I go!

think I'm gonna make the order tommorrow and hopefully have it next friday and if not early in the week after :)

Finally got my hands on NCAA 12. Wow, so much better than Madden, even if only for Boise States blue turf! :D

yeah it's a great game and beats Madden hands down.... but don't even start talking about that pitch i can't play a game at it because the screen is just so bright and you can't see the players right at all :pac:

gonna have to set up an american account some of the days and see what it's like to play online

Have you tried messing about your screen colours and contrast? My TV has a few default settings you can choose from, like Natural, Soft, Multimedia etc. Looks fantastic on Soft.

It was also so bloody wasy to download the correct roster names. I was fretting that I'd have to do it all through computer, usb key and PS3 (which would be near impossible considering my laptop is dead). So handy to just type in someone elses gamertag and download all theirs instead. Genius! :D

Yeah I did all that lol but it's just so different playing any field sport on a blue field that it doesn't look right :pac: still though ya have to love it lol

yeah the rooster names is a brilliant idea... when I got it first and kicked off my first game WR #11 just comes up and I nearly broke the tv because I wanted real names so I'd get an idea who were the top players in the game to watch out for in the draft next year... but then I had to give EA their dues when I found out you could just use the roster share thingy... brilliant idea... is there a reason why EA don't have the proper rooster in the game to begin with....

and finally - is there many other people out there with this game - a rival to the madden 12 league perhaps :D

Pretty sure it's because they're student athletes as opposed to professional athletes, and students can't have their likeness used in games - same way they can't get paid for playing college football (unless your name is Cam Newton!).

yeah I was thinking it was something like that but sure fair dues to EA for making it so easy to download a custom roster ;)

I don't actually own a PS3, only an XBox and so only play Madden. Re a league there is one on www.immaturegamers.net for PS3 NCAA.

Along with many of the guys from the Boards Madden league from here I play Madden leagues on there. Lads on there seem to think NCAA is an amazing game. Personally I am hoping this years Madden gains the benefit from teh developer from NCAA trasferring over.

I had ncaa 08 on the PS3 and I recall that when I was playing Madden I could import the draft eligible players from my NCAA saved game into my Madden game. Long time since i played it so cant remember too much but it was a good addition and imagine its still in it.

yup at the end of every dynasty season (franchise mode in madden) you have the option of exporting the draft players out for Madden... pretty nice feature but I'll probably not be buying Madden 12 this year so probably won't get to see how it works out :(

    I cracked my disk :(:(:(:(:(

anyone got any tips where to buy it second hand because as much as I loved the game I'm not going to spend another 50 quid on it to get a new copy....

might just pick up madden for €20ish to keep me ticking out and wait for 13 to come out...

defo gonna be investing in NCAA 13 though ahead of Madden unless Madden gets absolutely rave reviews through the sky - loved this game and was so much more fun than any Madden I've played recently..

Just ordered this, to then realise it wont play on my xbox. Bolloxs

NCAA 12 is region free on the PS3 and is CLASS! I mean excellent, I played through an RTG career so I said I'd get Madden 12 and continue the character on. I was so disappointed. The game play graphics arent nearly as good, the UI of the game is **** and all in all it just pales in comparrison to NCAA. If I played madden and then NCAA I might have thought madden was ok but doing it the other way around really was a step back.

Getting a PS3 on Sunday, first game that'll be played will be NCAA. Can't wait to get to play it. Ridiculously better than Madden I think.

Sick that I had to buy a PS3 for the opportunity to play it. Stupid that the Xbox's are region locked!
