New idea. Someone posts a 'What if...' scenario which changes an event in the past, and we discuss what would be different now because of that change.

What if Test had really married Stephanie (in real life and storyline) and Triple H had never got involved?

Tough one, isn't it. I don't think Test could have connected with the audience the same way that Trips did in that situation. Then again, I doubt Vince would have let his son-in-law be a midcarder for 10 years.

My opinion, Test would have been a main-eventer, but Triple H would have surpassed him. Especially seeing as how Evolution was his idea, then DX reforming. I think Test would have became like Big Show. Occasionally thrown into the main event, but mostly just getting fued over nothing. Triple H would still be Triple H, but with fewer world titles.

here is a better one to get your head around

What If.............hhh didn't come out during the curtain call incident at MSG

now take into account hhh was booked to win the 96 KOTR and booked to get the spot a midcard austin would so gladly grab with both hands in his place

bret was going to wcw, screwjob or not, worst case scenario he would have turned up on nitro with the wwf title, vince would have got mad, vince would have brought wcw to court (again), screwjob while talked about alot didn't have a ripple or domino effect on the world of pro-wrestling like the scenario i described

if taker had remained big evil, people would have been bored in 2005 :D

edit: on the screwjob, what if............ madusa didn't throw her title in the trash on nitro?? that made vince paranoid totally about his champions, would the screwjob have ever occured if madusa didn't do what she did??

    What if Hulkamania never happened?................ooh

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

If Hulkamania never happened, pro wrestling would still be old style territories and generally viewed as a carnival side show. Pro wrestling would not have had superstars like The Rock and Austin. A good chance RAW and the Monday Night Wars would never have happened.

Much as I dislike Hogan, and always have, his influence and superstardom in the 1980s propelled the industry top heights previously never imagined.

What If Brock Lesnar did not leave WWE.......?

Hehe, I just had an image of Stone Cold and HBK forming DX :D

I think Austin would have made it anyway. Lets face it, Austin was the guy they picked to replace HHH as the KOTR winner, so they must have been planning to give him a push anyway. He just really sped it up

What if WCW had won the Monday night war? Would we have seen Vince on WCW tv as a general manager?doubt it as his ego is too big to work for the competition

Bischoff didnt own WCW so ended up on WWF tv as well it was a job, a job which in a similar situation Vince would not have needed as he owned WWF and thus if it was bought out hed have been rich (or atleast even richer).

Folks, in order for a thread like this to work, don't just barge in and post your own scenario. Your are best off answering the most recent question, then ask your own one. Otherwise we will be left with a thread with loads of questions and zero answers.

Vince would have gone with plan b... the XFL!!

what if...... Paul Heyman never started ECW

He would be the biggest star in the WWE atm in my opinion and we would have seen a number of others get bigger pushes as Vince and co would have been less reluctant to push superstars that big in fear of them just upping sticks and leaving the company and not repaying the company for all the time spent developing them.

And we wouldn't have ended up with so many wrestlers with stupid names so Vince can copyright them

what if...... Paul Heyman never started ECW

he didn't, todd gordon did and sold it to heyman in 96

maybe, but lets not forget wwf were in dire circumstances in the summer of 96, wcw were now the clear number one promotion in the usa, they were killing wwf in the ratings, houseshow attendance was down, ppv revenue was down to a trickle

by the time austins push came around it might have been too late to save wwe from eventual doom

bigger picture, HHH would have been booked with a returning bret hart at survivor series and at WM13, that feud make austin a superstar

Todd Gordon founded Eastern Championship Wrestling, Heyman started ECW, cant credit Gordon as any thing other than a financial backer, so doesnt really answer the question

UFC's heavyweight division would be pretty damn mediocre and Dana White worth a few million less than he is now.

What if Cena hadn't dressed up as a Vanilla Ice wannabe on that Hallowe'en episode of Smackdown in 2002?

Wrestling would have gone national with or without Hogan, it was an inevitability that McMahon sped up. Ted Turner likely still would have aquired WCW too.

Without Hogan it would have been built around someone else like Savage. It would have put back Wrestlemania by 3 or 4 years though. The numbers might not have been AS good as with Hogan but I reckon they'd still be pretty good.

he wanted to be an nfl star so left his big guaranteed wwe deal ($10m over 5 years i believe it was) to sign a $20-30k a year development deal with the vikings despite never having played in college

He was really really unhappy with the travelling schedule.

Can't really imagine him being happy if he stayed. Think he may actually have ****ed himself with drugs if he stayed in the WWE

He would have only been there for a few months, buried everyone resembling a main eventer and then left when Vince came calling, leaving TNA in a shambles.

We would have never had Vickie on Smackdown and missed some of the most entertaining things in years on WWE programming, if you watched Eddie's dvd a few years back and someone told you his cute little wife would become one of the greatest heel characters in wrestling history you would have laughed in their face, but thats what happened

Rey Mysterio wouldn't have won it at Wrestlemania 22 and Eddie proberly would have won Royal Rumble 06 as well.

What if HBK went to WCW? I heard that in his book he wanted out of his contract and Vince said he would be misused or something. So I wonder what would have happened if HBK would have left with Nash and Hall to go to WCW.

My thoughts would be: HBK would have been the leader of the NWO instead of Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart would have stayed with WWF and maybe just maybe Owen Hart wouldn't have died. I know it sounds weird but I think somehow Owen could have been stopped doing the stunt if Bret had stayed.

Why do you think Bret would have stayed in the WWF? WCW would have still offered him huge money which Vince couldn't match.

And Hogan would still have been leader of the NwO. Otherwise there would be no "third man" mystery and the NWO would have ended up just like any other heel faction. Perhaps Michaels would have taken Savage's position as the number 2 guy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,443 ✭✭✭Red Sleeping Beauty

    Fun thread :)

Not sure which "what if.." ye're up to but I'll post on the previous two. I always wondered why Michaels didn't leave. In 96 he was left as the number 1 guy while his two mates went off to WCW for more money and Bret buggered off to try and become an actor. Surely Michael's ego had to enjoy the success and attention he got from being at the top spot after trying to get there for years.

If Michaels had've gone to WCW in 96 then I'd imagine Taker would've been given the belt (much like in 97 while Shawn lost his smile) and Sid would be wrestling in main events (much like in late 96/early 97).
