Okay so last night I thought I'd do a small 5 miles just recovering from my little run at the weekend from Howth to the lighthouse along the trail. As I ran I felt awesome, I mean really awesome, and just had to kep going the weather everything was just brilliant. I had never run this path before so had no idea how long it was or anything but can I just say this run was the single most enjoyable run I have ever had. I felt like I was flying along the track.

To anyone who hasn't done it there was only a few people scattered along the path and I think its got to be one of the best runs around. Here's my map of it from last night... ignoce the slow pace (9min miles) I'm only learning to run.

Great route for mountain biking - grew up on those tracks , running is really dodgy, just looking to bust ankle/ ligament at some stage

I actually thought the tracks were all okay. There was certain parts I couldn't run but in general everything was grand. Part of trail / mountain running I guess is dodgy surfaces.

Sounds like a great training run! Your previous posts show you running off-road more and more, so you might like to try the run to Howth summit- there's lots of trails around there, with plenty of variety. Here's a link to maps of last January's imra run- great fun!

Yeah I know the one you're talking about Scott, there's a super bit where the cliff just opens out in front of you, it's like being in Clare somewhere! Tough terrain but if you're careful you can get down it pretty quickly.

Actually here it is GPS'ed, the little loop at the end? I'll have to do it again after the Marathon, don't want to test fate in the meantime!

Yup, same here. Have often thought a run around the cliffs would make a nice Sunday run but just haven't done it yet. I'd like to start at the Martello Tower and run all the way around to Balscadden Bay and then on the road back to the tower maybe.

Its similar but my path was the whole trail from Howth Harbour to Sutton Strand --- more fun than a road run :)

I did this exact course yesterday and certainly enjoyed 98% of it. The knarly steps on the final bit of offroad was a bit long in the tooth but good training I suppose but wasnt helped with evening sunshine in the eyes and a headwind.

Enjoyed the run back to the car with the wind behind me. Yep 9/10 for enjoyment.
