Laptop Screen Problem

I dropped my laptop last night and now in the top right hand corner some of the LCD crystals of the screen have burst (or whatever the proper terminology is for it) and now the screen is black in that corner.

The area that is black seems to have spread a little bit as if I've set off some horrible chain reaction and my question is will this keep spreading to an extent where my laptop becomes unusable?

Yeah still seems to be growing little by little.

Could it be that whenever I close my laptop lid that it causes this??

Quite possibly it could spread and closing/opening is going to stress the lcd as it is now damaged.
You are going to have to replace it before it becomes unusable.
