Do your own research online its FREE :)

If you must buy a magazine I'd recommend Investors Chronicle.

I get Investors Chronicles and Money Week. Money week would be geared to giving you investment trends and some tips while IC is geared far more to FTSE and uk companies. If I had to choose one, IC would win hands down solely for the tips.

Investors chronicle is a must buy along with the FT on a Saturday. The Sunday Times is informative too, for a newspaper that is!

Thanks for all the recomendations. I have ordered Money Week on a free trail basis and will look into IC as that does get higher reviews. I also ordered Market Wizards as it was sugested by another poster. Will have loads of reading to do over the w/e.

Regarding the UK markets, does anyone have any recomendations of low comission brokers. Also do you ned a uk bank account to trade?

Did you get the original market wizards or did you get the new market wizards ? Both are great reads.

There are a lot of Market Wizard books out there- reprints and all- were they updated?

So which of the books would ye recommend for a pretty much novice trader. Is it the first one that contains the interviews with top traders?

It seems that the books are looking at the psychology of trading more so than giving investment strategies, etc. but that will be great help obviously.

Are there any other books I should get?

    The Dummy's Guide to Accounting?

How much knowledge of Accounting do you need to be able to get control of technical analysis?

    Thanks :)

To my knowledge, there are three books. All are interviews with different people.

1.Market Wizards - the book was written around '89 but is still highly relevant today.
2.The New Market Wizards - written in the late '90's I think and covers some more modern types of trading.
3.Stock Market Wizards - I think the focus is on investing in shares though I'm open to correction.

There's no rush into getting a heap of books. Crawl before you can walk etc.
Having a basic knowledge of accounting would be important in regard to keeping money management but not for actually trading. Unless you're talking about analysing companies.

Technical analysis involves reading charts to pick levels to buy/sell assets. (simplified).
