Thought the trailer to this movie looked decent - a kind of a London version of Gran Torino with Michael Caine instead of Clint.

Released on 13 November according to IMDB.

    What do you think?

Looks awesome, love Michael Caine and this seems to hold nothing back. Really looking forward to it after the trailer.

Definitely looks good, I'll have to give it a watch when it comes out.

I'll have to give this a watch. I've never seen a Michael Caine film I haven't liked. Strange really, because he's done some really terrible films, but just because he's in them, I've enjoyed them.

What, you even enjoyed Jaws: The Revenge? :pac:

I was actually thinking about that film when I made that post. I'm honestly not joking when I say that I'd watch it for him. The film was rubbish, but he made it more enjoyable than it should of been.

He's been in absolute clangers, but they're still fairly enjoyable if only for him (anyone who's seen Dressed To Kill knows what I mean, especially for the twist at the end! :D ).

One paragraph is hardly what one would call a review. Besides, he's not just any old geriatric pensioner. he's got the training and career of being a marine behind him, so even given his his age, he knows how to make a few things happen. He does get roughed up himself, but that's to be expected, given his age too.

I'd suggest going and seeing it and think less about what 'reviewers' whatever their leaning, say or think. Being lucky enough to see it on Monday as a free preview, I enjoyed it quite a lot. I wasn't too hung up on the whole vigilante thing, but just as a means of entertainment. And Caine rarely fails to deliver.

Outrageous slur on a fine film!

I think Harry Brown could be a sleeper hit of the winter, with a campaign to get Caine oscar nominated.

Just back from seeing it - it's really, really good.

I'd been kinda reluctant to go see it, partly cos it looked formulaic (we've all seen Gran Torino, we know how this one goes) but also because it looked like a silly, Guy Ritchie-esque, mockney ball of dumb. It's neither of these things. It's a great story, told really well. Harry Brown goes from being an average old dude living in a rough estate who goes to the pub, plays chess with his bud and generally just marches time, to being a scarily angry man (he served as a Marine in Northern Ireland).

It's gradual, though. There's no stupid bit where he cricks his neck and decides to get back in the game; he doesn't suddenly remember how to roundhouse kick someone in the head. Instead, it's very nuanced and very realistic. The violence in it makes it look like Clint Eastwood was seriously over-reacting in Gran Torino. There's some seriously brutal stuff in this.

It's not a total vengeance-fest. The first two-thirds of the film is about telling his story and how events gradually escalate. I'm not usually a fan of Michael Caine but he's really good in this. 7.5/8 out of 10. Well worth seeing.

Went to see this the other day and loved every minute of it. Have to agree with everything Stargal said and also mention that the cinematography is excelent through out, every scene is very well thought out and complements the emotion perfectly.
