The error message shown below has created a major problem with my new Toshiba Laptop I’m getting a black screen on hard boot up I can be repaired temporarily if I run the OS disk on b/u but that only lasts as long as the l/t remain operating if I hibernate the l/t boots up ok but a restart causes the problem to appear again I have checked online and there are several and many threads on various tech forums putting forward solutions to the error (so its fairly common) but none seem to be able to get rid of the error permanently can any of you Irish tech heads out there give me the definitive solution to this annoying problem

    Error File: \Boot\BCD Status: 0xc000000
Info: An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data

This doesn't smell like a virus at the moment, so I'm going to kick it over here for a while.

What OS do you have? XP, Vista, etc.

If it's vista, this link probably has the fix for you:

Sorry xprepairs I havent been on the boards for a few days hence no reply to your assist Im on Vista Home Premium and dispite many attempts have had no fix re the boot problem its quite annoying as the only help Toshiba desk gives is backit up and reinstall from rescue disks something I dont want to do if I brought it back to Harvey Norman I know I would get the same.
No installation disk came with the unit but have tried to repair from Vista Basic disk and here the strange thing when I go through repair it needs a hard boot but starts perfectly on this boot however if I were to close down and re-boot then the unable to read boot configuration message comes up again.
I will look at the link and get back to you Slan go foill
