Most people prefer the first series, and because they are so different, DoWII gets quite a bit of stick.

So did dow1, But that's not a problem with the community, that's a problem with *certain* community sites being full of dow1 players who troll the dow2 boards when bored :P

Whats really cool is that you can import your guys from DoW2, so you will have all the equipment/abilities that you are used to.

I wonder what the new units (for the existing armies) will be...

Also I wonder how the corrupt wargear system will work.

Personally I hate DOW2 because I'm a more a fan of the build bases/armies type of game. It requires tactical and strategic thinking...DOW2 is more tactical. Not a bad game, but I just personally dislike how distant it is from the first game. Still play Dawn of War LANs from time to time. Nothing will ever beat those days, games could last hours upon hours....originally I had hoped DOW2 would be basically a modified DOW with the same engine as COH, but I was rather disappointed...that said, I have to say I dislike Dark Crusade and Soul Storm. Can't beat Winter Assault, but hardly anyone plays it anymore...just the original, DC and SS. Grr.

It's a shame in my mind that they did seperate directions so much. Two games would have been more fun.

I'm going to have to play through the campaign again now and do it properly. ><

My last few games have been silly-ish, with a ranged commander, melee Tarkus etc. The basic idea of FC tank, tarkus for consistent dps and survivability and thaddeus to just pwn seems to be simplest and most effective.
