    Hello all,

I would like to know if we in the Republic have any legal minimum size a bodygrip trap needs to be to be used to dispatch mink, if they are supposed to be used at all that is. I believe the UK minimum size for mink is 116, yet in North Dakota they use 110 (smaller than the 116 I think).

Do we have a set minimum size, and if we do can anyone point me towards the relevant legalese please.

    ATB,

    John

The Irish SI (wildlife act, snares and traps 2003) makes no reference to size of body grip traps. It only notes that spring traps (which a body grop would be) cannot be gin traps and should ensure the immediate death.
however, you would still need to ensure you are targeting the intended specices and so its probably best to stick with uk guidlines. (buy from a uk supplier and you'll be fine)
