anybody see the major crowd conjestion outside the hogan stand side of croker after the all ireland football final yesterday? what caused it. one set of people trying to get to the gills pub and the other down to drumcondra.

looks like when people go onto the pitch for the presentation after the match, they all want to leave via the hogan stand - maybe this was a possible cause. never seen this happen before. at one stage the conjestion was so bad , that a garda inspector stood up on a pillar outside jurys croker hotel to advise the crowd how to move!!. bit worrying if you had children or old people at the game..

That was funny :) he should have turned his bleedin megaphone on!

I think Jurys was the bottleneck, a lot of people trying to get in there after the game and also most people on the pitch leave through the Hogan Stand as you say. It all cleared after about 20minutes but was very bad, never seen anything like it!

Was it people standing outside Jurys caused it or a queue to get into it?

Can't see what the problem is otherwise?

Croke Park was advising of it also and advising people to exit via the other exits, I exited via the Hogan but it was the guts of an hour after the game ended and there was still a good bit of congestion, the real congestion was on the M7 Naas Road between 8 and 9, it took me 3.5 hours to drive to the Red Cow P&R in the morning and 5.5hrs to get home, the abbeyleix - durrow road is one f'n nightmare.

Good to see No "Plan B" instead there was "Open All Gates" :pac:

Well in fairness, the crowd was made up of Cork and Kerry people. Not exactly a convention of the intelligentsia is it....

I'm surprised they found their way out the stadium in the first place

I came out the back of the Canal End and walked through this Car Park towards Jones Road but it was not moving at all. So I doubled back and made my way through the car park out to the NCR.

This was straight after the game, so obviously it was only people in Red.

Yes it was difficult at first to work out, but having been there 50 times in the last 20 years it comes naturally to Kerry and Cork people.
Maybe if <insert rondolfus' county> won a few more games, they might show us how to leave Croke Park, properly.
The problem did seem to stem from Jury's though, because it was fine just a small bit up the road.

I think a lot of people decide to meet at Jurys after the game. Thats where I was meeting my parents, so theres a lot of people just standing around there waiting and not moving so its difficult for crowds to get by.
