Has anyone used the dipping method to do tyranids or orks? If so what do you use?

I tried it.
Put it aside because the results weren't what I wanted for my paint scheme.
I picked up a tin of the armypainter dip.
I find I get similar effects with the new GW washes and they're easier to work with
