How was your first day...?

So, how was your first day?
    Impressions?
    Thoughts?

I'm doing a postgrad, which is awesome (never thought I'd get this far :D ), however all the "thesis" talk straight off the bat was a bit scary.

Another thing that was a bit scary was not being able to find my way about...I didn't do my undergrad in tcd...and i'd to navigate my way about the place (you mean there's more to tcd than the pav?!?), so I did feel a bit like a lost 18 year old again, about to embark on a massive scary journey, but sometimes it's good to be outside your comfort zone...right... eep!

Scary stuff aside, my profs seem sound and my class seem lovely, fingers crossed first impressions are right :)

Anyway, just thought i'd get the ball rolling, see if anyone else had a bit of wow this is great-sh1te I'm a bit afraid day :)

Had a grand day, I'm just looking forward to meeting people from my class. I think the week will be less unnerving if I meet new people who I'll actually see again!

Tis very different from my freshers week in DIT, was in a small course in a small faculty so it's weird coming to this gigantic anonymous college.

Rathmines so only musicians everywhere! Tis just a big difference coming from being with classmates from day one to wandering around lost and alone until thursday. :o

Didn't even know there was a DIT college out in Rathmines :)

Exactly! They're the college that DIT forgot. *sigh*

    Pretty exhausting!
Front square was impossible to get around and I seemed to miss all the free food.
Met a few of my classmates and a lot of randomers at Speed Dating in the Phil, which was actually great. I'm looking forward to the stage where I'll be able to recognise people and remember their names.
Colours debate was brilliant, almost like standup.
It also made me realise why other colleges hate Trinity... :D

    \o/ A friend! :p

It was really just a meeting about support services, sports centre, the SU and they begged us to go meet our tutor. All the health sciences were there together.

I figure the course meetings and stuff are the most important but it was good craic and got talking to a few people. No-one I'll ever see again but it's good for the soul nonetheless!

Question for you actually, were you told to meet your tutor at 5 on thursday? I'm not sure if it's some sort of private meeting or what cos it's right before the course meeting.

I think you'll just have to run to work or leave early tbh. Tricky.

I'm looking forward to it but I'm a little petrified too! The likes of the placement in the hospital surgery thing sounds terrifying!

There's a few general sports tours on during the week anyway so I think you can go just about any day you're in really!

There seemed to be far too many Arts students this year

it wasnt too bad... i was in last week for the mature students and was s**ttin myself... i reverted back into the old laura: wallflower/quiet/shy/afraid of all those "humans" and was so shocked with myself for doing it...

i promised myself that this week i would talk to people. i was lucky, i had my class meeting yesterday so got to actually meet people i would be seeing on a daily basis so i was delighted with that. everyone seemed nice and as passionate about the subject as i am so at least i wont feel like a big nerd if people say "coming for a drink?" and i say "nah... im going to the library to read things":o

i joined a few societies/sports only to find that for most of the ones i want to go to have a few hours' wait between my last lecture or else i have a lecture when they are on... For example, i have one lecture on friday morning 9-10 and then im off for the day and then the basketball training is on friday evening at 6.30pm-8.30pm... and the yoga is on during my lectures:(
