I'm looking at getting a new pair or two before the DCM. I have orthotics and currently running with a pair of Nike full length air shoes. Has anyone any suggestions as to their preferences? Thanks

nike lunar or nike lunar glide. Fairly wide fitting and light. You dont want anything heavy as orthothics are heavy enough. Also narrow runners are not suitable for orthothics.

Thanks - I'll have a look at those.

Rightly or wrongly, I have been using my orthodics in Asics 2110, 2120, 2130 and currently in 2140 with no problems.

The one think I have learnt is that Asics Keyano have 1 degree of supination built in, so wearing them with orthodics may over compensate.

I bought a pair of Brooks Dyad and without trying to sound ridiculous they've changed my life. They're a neutral shoe so basically just a flat sole with pods that keep the orthotics in place.Ive high arches but built in support in shoes along with my orthotics was making me supinate. They're big but the cushioning is exactly what I need. I'm not a serious runner but I'm now able to do 15-20km a week which was impossible a few months ago due to foot pain. Dyads aren't easy to get but Amphibian King in Bray stock them. I've since bought another pair. Best of luck.

Thanks for all the replies. I was thinking today of going back to Brooks - I used to have the GT7s before I got the need to get orthotics and couldn't fault them - I know Brooks are having 'parties' around the country and near me next friday so I'll tip along and see if they have the Dyads.

Henryporter,do you mind me asking where those Brooks parties are on?I'm interested in talking to a rep. Missed one up north last weekend.

I've just ordered a pair of brooks launch from amphibian king which i'll wear with orthotics. They are a couple of ounces lighter than the dyad (but have less cushioning) and they are nice fit between the ST4 (my favourite trainer ever) and heavier marathon trainers.

keyano + orthotics = over compensation. Orthotics are designed for use with neutral trainers.

You would assume that. I thought the same. When I was getting my orthotics I asked the same question.
My podiatrist recommended Asics the keyano and the 2140s. He said go out and get your gait tested. But get what ever shoe im happy with. I got the keyano. Brought them back to him and he fitted the orthotics into them

New Balance 1063s with either green superfeet or sports version of orthaheel. The orthaheel has an angled heel.

Would have to agree that kayano + orthotics is not a good combination. About 2 years ago I bought a pair of kayanos to try and help with sore knees/ankles from running - they helped a bit but not much. About 18 months ago I got orthotics and when used in the kayanos my knee and ankle problems became worse. I got gait analysis done about 9 months ago in Amphibian King and got a pair of Brooks (not sure which model) - they have worked a treat with my orthotics. I need to get a new pair of runners before the DCM - hoping to get gait analysis done this week and will probably go for another pair of Brooks.

My other half got orthotics recently and rather than making stand alone ones, the podiatrist altered the insoles of his runners (Nike Triax). Obviously the downside is having to get this redone every time you get new runners but the upside is that the combination of shoe and orthotic is taken into account precisely to achieve the desired effect.

I was thinking about this today. Id say its best to work with whoever is fitting your Orthotics.

I have the Keyano and Orthotics. It works for me. But I have very flatfeet/fallen arches. Podiatrist said 8 out of 10 ha ha
