Thanks to AnCatDubh, I was able to prepare a photo for sending by Rapidshare over the Internet. The idea is dpi is still a mystery and some people claim it is a mythological way to think about photos:

It might be worth sharing ideas on "House Style" for anybody who is new to tiff files. I have started printing my photos again in A4 size and could do with some pointers. Are .gif files used in printing?

Some experts advise to print always from a downloaded graphics file, not from a web browser.

I plan to work on the photo here

and ideas for sharpening it up and probably increasing constrast would be welcome, please.

This weeks Amateur Photographer magazine has a free supplement on home printing. Quite detailed with lots of advise on papers and post-processing (particularly sharpening). You can pick it up for less than 4 euros in Easons.
