Draughty fascias - solutions???

Our house is seven years old. We bought it last year. It's by the sea and the winds can be VERY strong - 100mph.
The fascias are badly installed. (It's just rafters covered with plastic fascias - something that lets in lots of draughts.)

We are considering various solutions to the problem.
Filling the space with expanding foam
    Boxing it off with timber

Does anybody know which of these is best or have any better solutions?
Cost is obviously a factor but this really needs to get fixed by winter.

    Moved from Accommodation & Property.

Be very careful. Your eaves should be designed to allow an adequate air-flow through the roof. If you block this off, you could end up with a damp/rot problem.

However, you seem to suggest that the ventilation is well beyond this. You need to get someone to review the roof properly.

Exactly as stated, you need to get someone to look at this for you. Providing a backing board for the fascia will not achieve a lot, even though it should have been done at the start, imo.

Is your house a bungalow or a dormer?
