    Hi,

I have a question about a driving licence.
Can i drive in ireland using an international driving licence obtained from Thailand (I am a full time student)?
I live outside the city center,so would like to have a car to drive around in. Would it be a problem to hold an international licence to drive in Ireland?
If i have my own car, can I get car insurance here in Ireland with an international driving licence and a Thai licence?
which one is the best way for me?
Also if i wish to apply for an Irish driving licence,What should i do? Would it be possible?

    Thank in advance!

You'll be in the minority on Irish roads... very few of them have any sort of driving license never mind an Intl one... maybe you could give a few lessons...!

What? Do you know piss easy it is to get a thai drivers license [no offence OP]? The test takes place on a mock road and the tester doesn't even sit in the car, they watch you from the side of the road and you don't sit any sort of test to get an international driving permit you just apply for it, all you need is to hold a valid full license to drive in your own country.

Irish driving as a whole is sub standard... so anyone with any sort of license in my opinion is as good as most on these **** roads!

the best peolple to tell you are the insurance companies, i know a guy from new zealand that drove on his new zealand licence for years with it never boeing a problem until a year or so ago when his insurance company told him he had to apply for an irish one. A money spinner I think.
