Im looking for some ideas for a college project.
I need to come up with with a project with sustainability in mind but im drawing a blank. The only thing is maybe a chicken coup or something like it but dont see it as being a year long project.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have no real criteria so its a blank canvas to work with .
A wind turbine is a good idea and one I considered but unfortunately someone else in the group is doing that already.
I would like to do something car related if possible but willing to consider anything really.
    Thanks

Something to do with regenerative breaking systems perhaps, nice mix of mechanical and electrical.

    Car related stuff:

Solar Panels on car roof/bonnet (Potential output + viability (Ireland vs California))

    Regenerative Braking Technologies (Compressed Air/Cacitors)

Energy Generation system for shock absorbers (Kinetic ?)

Control system for driving to optimise fuel consumption

Just a few suggestions of interesting areas. :)

    What area?

I could probably rattle of 20 civil/structural projects right now

Thanks for the suggestions so far.
Kearnsr I have done Mech. Eng so far in college so that is more my background.
I suggested the regen braking or as I put it Kers from F1 but my lecturers didnt think it was a good idea with it being difficult to do with the equipment there and that it is already out there in BMW cars etc.
One of these might be a runner though so thanks Shiny

Thanks for the ideas but I am going to go with one of the lecturers suggestions as they werent to keen on the suggestions saying they were too difficult to do.
The idea I went with is a remote control car to climb a lamp post to take pictures to check for faults/rust cracks etc.
I have an interest in r/c cars so thats why I went with it.

If you want a handy sustainable project, do solar thermal.

Its very easy to make a working model and the theory behind it is very understandable. (I'm doing a research masters/phd in it ;))

Could you not just put a wireless camera on a length of pole.

Network electricians would use insulated switching rods for switching.

This could be a wireless device that was clipped to the top of the switching rods.

They would also be able to use it to examine High Tension Insulators, Electrical joints etc...

Trying to google what the switching rods look like for you but I can't find them.
