Just back from 2 days in Kensington. With 1 hour a Merc SLR, Lambo convertible, and Gallardo and a Ferrari 359 went past, then a Rolls, it was unreal. And nearly every car looks new, no matter what the age.

The Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane always has serious metal parked outside.

Not really. And I think that the OP's point. Despite the celtic tiger and the increase in the number of expensive cars on the road in Ireland we never reached the level of super/prestige cars that you will routinely see in London. Noticed it several times myself also, and it is quite striking. Its just a bigger, richer city than Dublin even at its heady peak of a couple of years ago.

If you are over for a few days you will tend to gravitate towards the city centre. The city centre has a congestion charge and costs £8 to drive in and £6 an hour to park in so only the wealthy drive in. That's why the cars are so impressive.

Go out to somewhere like Brixton and what is impressive is the 1980s Ford Escorts and old Mazda 626s that are in really good condition.
