trailer painting

    hi,
    lookin to get a trailer fully sandblasted and properly resprayed with about 3/4 coats of paint.last lad that sprayed it sprayed straight over the last one no prep or anything and is in a bad way after about 6 months. any idea where i could head or how much?

    Where are ya and what kind of trailer is it?

    Is it a box body, tipper, tractor type or Artic?

    just an 8x4 builders trailer. removable mesh sides and a ramp. in galway

    Blast it and get it galvanised maybe ? little bit more work stripping it down but might be worth it ?

    Try soda blasting, it actually stops rust from forming and works very well.
    Then paint with Zinc primer and then topcoat with your flavour of choice.

    I'd reckon a builders trailer would ( hopefully ! ) get used heavily , most paint would get chipped and it'd be back to square one again.

    Do a search for "Passivation" only works for stainless steel AFAIK.

    it does get regular use but isnt dogged or filled with hardcore all the time. im a sparky so is for carrying ladders and material mainly. it was a bad job done last time dunno if he even took off loose paint last time even.

    Are you talking about the blasting, painting or galvanising?
    regarding soda blasting, the reason it delays rusting is because it is dry and alkaline, lots of classic car buffs use it because of this reason on old panelling.

    blasting and spraying dont want to galvinise it
