    firstly 28 isn't old or even getting near it so don't worry about that. If you're serious about wanting to sing as a career then there are a few things you can do to work towards that.
    If I were you I'd have a think about the type of music you'd most like to sing and work towards getting a band together for that genre, you don't have to limit your self to just one, but it could help in getting you started.
    Would you be more interested in doing covers or would you like to write your own stuff?
    You could also invest in your voice and have a session or two with a voice coach (the fact that I happen to be one is in no way why I'm saying that!! :)) But a voice coach could asses your voice for you and give you advice based on that assessment and point you in the right direction.
    If you let me know the area you live in I might be able to recommend someone for you.
    But even if you don't do that, another to try would be making a few simple recordings of your voice to have to share with potential bands etc.

    Best of luck!!!

    Hi There,
    Were are you located?? I am in Cork. I am nearly 23 and in the same position as you, iv only sang in choirs and karaoke but would love to really put my voice to work. I am currently getting singing lessons but do feel I have a good voice.
    I am into pop and r n b, id like to do covers - diana ross, michael jackson, anything Motown. I would be interested in starting a group like that. Are you?? I know there is a similar group like this in Cork at the moment, but competition is good right.

    let me know

    Chris xx
