Observe!!! Be obvious about your observation!

Reverse into the parking spot so you just have to drive out when the instructor gets in.

Dont be put off by your instructors apparent rudeness/strictness. They are actually nice people (most of them) and are all smiles after the test!!

    Relax

don't look at gearstick, its not for looking at,, get up to speed limit for each road quickly,,look in mirrors alot, posistion on road vital, be aware of it going in and out of roundabouts ,, if u can drive ok you will pass,,, learn rules of road,,all de signs so on,,,, and can you open bonnet on your car, and point out all the vital parts under it,, coz alot will ask you to open bonnet and tell em where oil/water/brake fluid go.. and ask what certain parts under there do,, only in ireland! not only do they expect u to drive car, they want you to repair it too :D

Cheers for that tip about the reverisng into the parking spot, makes it easier. And every few seconds i observe so it shouldnt be a problem.

Thanks for the tips, they are a great help. Didnt relise they ask you what the parts under the bonnet do, i know where they are though and how to check oil, anti freeze coolant etc and about the brake pade been spongy if the fluid is low. Have a fair knoweldge of the signs now but will give them a look over again and in the morning.

Don't spend too much time looking at your speedometer, just quick glances. Too long and your steering will go funny. Focus on the furthest point on the road that you can see and scan towards the car for hazards, keep repeating and incorporate a mirror check.

I don't know if anyone;s told you about the limit point method. The limit point is the point at which the road, as far as you can see, ends. Say you're on a nice straight road with a sharp bend at the end, you can see as far as the mouth of the bend - that's the limit point. If it's getting closer to you, slow down, if it's getting further away you can maintain/accelerate, and if it's staying at the same distance maintain your speed.

Keep a safe distance from parked cars - at least a door's width. The faster you are, the further away you need to be.

If a pause becomes a wait, put your handbrake on. Always put your handbrake on for hill starts, not worth trying to hold it on the clutch and stalling.

Give the examiner a nice smooth ride, know what's going on around you and don;t stress if you make a mistake, it may not cause a fail.

    Good luck!

Before you put on your indicator look in left, middle and right mirror,

Dont worry too much ,its easy once you can drive

And last thing remember the H is for hospital!

Tanks for the replys guys. Unfortunely i got a grade 3 fot taping my mirror against another vehicles mirror. But did very well on position, observation, react to hazords, signals, speed and reverse. Got a grade 2 in clearence/overtake which i also got the grade 3 in., got a grade 2 in progress, grade 2 in vehicle controlls and a grade 2 in reverse.

The nerves kicked in big time and i wasnt as confident, at least i know now what to expect and shouldnt be nervous as much next time.

    Thanks again for you help
