    Ronseal, really.

I'm aware that it affects the adrenals, but beyond that, I know very little about it.

What other effects does it have? I'm speaking largely about its effects as a stimulant more than whatever negative side-effects it has, though I would be interested to learn about them too.

Edit: nearly forgot the most important part. I'm not a medical practitioner, nor do I have much of a science background beyond. I'm just interested in certain aspects! Though I do believe a lot of lawyers end up with a reasonable amount of medical knowledge through their work. Nice to get a head start!

I have a strong suspicion that it affects serotonin, but indirectly-so. It's main effects are that it acts as a diuretic and prolongs a cell-transduction pathway that causes adrenaline to be produced for longer periods of time. Overuse of caffeine can be quite horrific though... ...one person once described it as "whipping a horse that's already knackered".
