New bike up to £2500 / €2750

Inspired by recent threads on Planet-X carbon bikes I've decided that it's time I put my reservations behind me and went for a bike manufactured from this new fangled material :). Through the profitable sale of my Litespeed Ghisallo and a few other bits and peices I have up to £2500 to spend and am looking for the most flash for the cash and as light as possible.

I know you guys have your fingers on the pulse of the latest and greatest deals so I'm looking for suggestions. One thing is I'm not a fan of Specialised bikes.

As a benchmark my list has one contender so far -

Scott Addict R2 2008, Durace 7800, Mavic Kysrium SL premium, and Ritchey carbon bars, stem etc. (14.7 lb) It's £2500 but the intergrated seat post is a wee concern as the overall understatedness.

    All advice welcome, thanks!

For €2500 you could build up a Carbon Ribble bike with SRAM Force 2010 and some Easton bits to finish it off.

*This may be the bike I plan on building early next year when sterling gets weaker again.

    Left field suggestion....

Argon 18 with SRAM, maybe something like this from here. The prices seem a bit random.

FWIW I don't think Red is worth the difference over Force.

Force is prettier and (apparently) more functional, only a bit heavier, and loads cheaper.

You lie like a lying thing!

Well, ok not quite like a lying thing... it's true a lot of the pro teams use the Force front derailleur, but it's all about the weight man :)

Depends whether you like angular shiny stuff.

Heading to the Cycleshow in London in just over 3 weeks, might be worth a look to see all the new 2010 bits & pieces

    snipped images of loveliness...

Yup, I'd have Red every time if money was no object :)

Could you find a special on the boardman red, zipp, carbon -- it sounds good......

Actually changed my mind. I'd go for a new frame conalgo or something. the bike you have now is pretty cool and I don't think you'll get anything additional by buying a new bike. Get new wheels and/or a new frame for that money.

Thanks, very interesting but seems that they are out of medium frames and the spec i'd like. I think the Litepeed I had was a better proposition all told

Why did you sell the Litespeed?

Cheap Canyon frameset, maybe do a custom build?

Profit basically - I couldn't miss the chance of making £450 on it. I've always made money on any second hand bike that I've onwed! It was a an old one and I would ultimatey rather have a newer one but can't justify (i.e. afford) the price. It also rode a bit strangely, so much so that I could barely take both hands of the handle bars at the same time.

Very good price on this :

With plenty left over for bling gruppo and wheels.
