Just saw them putting what looked like the final touches to H&M on Academy Street the other day! They're meant to be opening in a few weeks i think. The other shops i've heard that are going in there are topshop, river island and next. Does anyone know of any others?

Yeah most of the major shops are ment to be leaving the Merchants Que block. What d'you think will happen to the place,I'm fearing that it'll turn into one of those ****ty shopping centres with indpendant clothes shops...then again I was never a fan of that place.

Why is it just shops that we have two or three of already?
It would be nice if there were shops like specialist sports shops, some new chain stores not currently in the Irish market like American Eagle, Abercrombie, Banana Republic, Ruehl, Old Navy. Surely somebody on Owen O'Callaghan's staff could get imaginative to bring new options to Cork?

You have to wonder what the situation is with the Cornmarket Centre, it's open a good while now and they've still only the anchor tenant of TK Maxx. Academy Street is showing that there is still a market for retail space.
